Windows Explorer Browse button

Hi there,

I am new to windows 7 and have it with my desktop for work. I am wondering about the browse button in windows explorer because I work with programs that run a lot of scripts that import template files into a program. The scripts use paths to import these files, and they will work as long as I do not hit the browse button to open windows file browser. With windows XP the browse button would open the appropriate directory where the specified file was located, but with 7 it overrides the script and always opens to whatever folder I was last in when using the file browser. I am not sure I am making sense, but is there a way to change this so it works like it did in XP? I am not really looking to create favorites because there are too many folders I browse into in the course of a day...

TIA!

Welcome to the Seven Forums.

I see this same problem with the scripts that I use. It is really annoying.

Maybe someone will know the answer for both of us.

Software developers Release update and problem fixed

Well it seems perhaps my troubles are being fixed for me :). There was a software update for the program I use and it now seems that the problem is fixed. Perhaps is it a specific compatibility issue with certain programs to windows. I know one of my co-workers mentioned my problem to the developers of the software a while ago (even though they insisted there was no issue). Low and behold, the new version has no issue.
Of course there is now at least one other bug but its far less annoying than having to browse through a million folders during the course of a work day.

Maybe your issue has a similar solution. Best of luck!
