Windows Explorer does not see my RAID 0

Windows Explorer does not see my RAID 0. I have a new build with an Asus P6T Deluxe V2 mobo, Intel i7-920 cpu, and 12 GB of Corsair Dominators. During setup, I configured a RAID 0 with 2 new formatted but otherwise clean 7200 1TB Hitachi Deskstar SATA HDs. I then did a clean install of Windows 7 Professional 64, following all directions, and apparently without a hitch, on a 500GB Samsung HD502HJ SATA HD. The system boots up and works as expected, except that Windows Explorer does not see the RAID 0. It shows up in the device manager, but I can't use it. When I go to disk management the RAID 0 drive is identified as "Disk 0," "Dynamic" and as having "1862.9GB Unallocated." There is no drive letter assigned, and right clicking on it provides no opportunity to do so. It only opens a window with options to either start a wizard to create a new simple volume or to display the drive properties . Can anyone tell me what I need to do to use this storage as RAID 0?

Are you using the motherboard drivers for RAID?
This is the version I see on your motherboard.

When I right click on "Disk 0" in Disk Management to view "Properties," then "Driver," it shows a Microsoft driver, version 6.1.7600.16385. "Driver Details" just shows a Windows\system32\ drivepath ending in \disk.sys.
I have attempted to install the ICH10R driver. However, when I attempt to "Update Driver," choose "Browse my computer for driver software" and click on the flashdrive folder containing the ICH10R driver, Windows flashes

up a window that says, "The best driver software for your device is already installed. Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date." When I attempt to "Uninstall" the driver, Windows just uninstalls

the drive. The Asus support DVD has a utility for copying the ICH10R driver to a floppy for installing it from there, but I don't have a floppy drive and the Asus utility will not copy to or install from a flash drive. Where do I go

from here?

On the utility disk for my P6T Deluxe (V1) board, the Intel Matrix Storage Manager installer is in:

\Drivers\Raid\IMSM\Install

and the drivers themselves are in:

\Drivers\Raid\IMSM\Driver\64Bit

(These drivers are the ones that the makedisk utility would put on a floppy. You need them mainly if you're installing Windows to the RAID array.)

Perhaps the utility disk for your V2 is similar.

On my disk, the version number is 8.0.0.1039.

I believe that what you want do do is run the full installer. You should get the drivers, plus a utility for managing the RAID array.

I haven't used Intel RAID for a while. (I had a RAID 10 array.) I found that it wanted to re-verify itself after every system hang. Sensible, I suppose, but it tended to negate the performance advantages of the array.

It seems as though you havent installed the intel matrix storage manager as others have said - briefly below i have outlined what it involves, and i think W7 intalls the raid driver during install.
Download your manual it will tell you how to install the raid drivers during installation - when you get to custom install you click on add a driver - so have you set up raid 0 before installing the os? - you have to enter a utility select the drives, and create a raid array before you install the OS, but first of all you have to enable raid in the bios under sata configuration then you reboot hold down keys eg with mine ctrl +l and enter the intel matrix storage manager rom and set up the array that done you reboot and install W7. I think you can use a flash drive for the drivers - if the os will install without this you just install the intel matrix storage manager after install - best to install latest chipset drivers first then reboot, and install the intel matrix storage manager. I haven't done this yet like bobkin, but basically if the OS wont install without the raid drivers installed during install you need a floppy or a flash drive to get things going.
