For example:

If I open "My Documents" and then try to search for a document by entering the name in the top right corner, it doesn't do anything (nothing shows or indicates it is even searching for that document I am trying to locate).

Any ideas why it isn't working?

P.S. It's like this with all the folders i.e. My Pictures/My Music etc...

A massive thank you!

Ran the above as suggested and it said Windows Search was not running so I enabled it within services.msc (I changed automatic delayed start to just automatic). No idea why it was on automatic delayed start.

Problem solved.

Thanks!

Worked as well as it did for Mangoh and others!! Have no clue as to why this happened, but followed your instructions and now my search works like Magic again. Thanks!

Hello,
I tried the above and the trouble shoot did not work find any problems.
My search window in explorer and the search in start menu do not work. When I type a word and hit return nothing happens. I did restart and that had no effect. I also did a system restore to first of month...but since I don't really know when this problem started I can't say that the restore point was early enough.

One HD not working for search other 2 okay

the search works on 2 of my HDs but not the 3rd one which is 2TB.

Interestingly enough I recently partitioned the drive and the near empty section is now working for search.
