Windows fails to connect to a network without a restart

I'm unable to go click on the network icon on trey and switch to another of the listed network options (other than the one that I booted/restarted with)

And this happens regardless of from where to where I'm switching (whether from fixed cable to my router to wirless or vice versa or between wireless/wifi networks.

I've done all the gamut of checking the router and resetting and all that - in fact I've gone thru that with the ISP provider on the phone and he has remotely cheked the router and it's perfect. And my pc is perfect and the connection works perfectly without my intervention when I turn it on or restart. Troubleshooting is no help in this regard. I've also reset firewall to default.

I don't wanna restart my computer every 5 minutes just to access the internet. There got to be a better way this thing functions.

Whenever I troubleshoot the various connections this is what I sometimes get no report - other times I get these gems:

"Local Area Connection does not have a valid IP configuration"
"Wireless does not have a valid IP configuration"
"Network Bridge does not have a valid IP configuration"

Is anybody there?

Or perhaps it's conventional to wait longer than 4 days for replies?

hey, you would normally get a reply faster.

Some googling:

- Disable IPv6 (uncheck in Properties)
- Tried setting a static IP?

Yes, it would be a problem when you are at some other place. Anyway, your network should work with dynamic settings.

Set it back to automatic. What happens if you run the following at a command prompt?
ipconfig -release
ipconfig -renew

Disregard if you have already tried these.
Copy paste "ipconfig -all" results please

One thing I need to mention: when I go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\Network and Internet\Incoming Connections (thus not 'Internet Connections') I get this:

i48cyk2tKF2VM.png

Not sure what Firewall has anything to do with it cuz I have mine on default/reset (removed adaptations by software) and, for the sake of it I've even tried turning it off firewall to see if that solves the problem: it doesn't
.

From ping results, it seems IPv4 is not working properly. You get response with IPv6 ping.

Hmm, well try uninstall firewall completely and check windows firewall as well (if applicable).

There're two firewalls?

Or are you referring to modem firewall (which in principle should have nothing to do with connectivity outside home)?

Not modem. Windows firewall and if you have a 3rd party firewall. They should't work simultaneously but who knows
