Every time I try to log into my (only) account on windows seven I get this error message:
Code:
The user profile service failed the logon.

User profile cannot be loaded.

If I log into safe mode and perform a net user username /del will windows ask me to create a new account next time I boot the computer?

Any advice would be appreciated.

It is possible that since it wont let you create a new account; that something either in the registry or elsewhere could have gotten corrupted somehow. I might consider trying to do a system restore off the windows disc if you have that available; as if you followed the steps in that tutorial completely and it still wont let you create a account then you might just have to do a system restore or repair if it will let you.

Well, a system restore isn't really an option but I will try a startup repair.

Okay, startup repair didn't detect any problem and system restore doesn't have any restore points so that's not going to work.

So, I recreated my account and my home folder, but it still wont log in...
Do I REALLY need to fresh install because I would really rather not.
Essentially net user will create a new account but it won't log in properly(And also doesn't add a registry key) and I can't access manage accounts in the control panel. Is the logon service broken or...?

Like I said you may have to do a clean install especially if it's not allowing the account to log into the system. I think someone else may have to step in and help here as short of
Doing a clean install i have run out of ideas on this one.

Still don't understand why you are using the command prompt net user command.
Can't you use Control Panel / User Accounts to create the new account?

I know we were discussing this in your other thread but I'd still like to understand what happe4ns when you do.

When I click on user accounts it goes to the page of the logged in user account and I can't click "Manage another account" because when I do nothing happens.
But I think only when logged in as admin/in safe mode.
For some reason when I'm logged in as admin or in safe mode I also can't create files so that might be part of the problem. Should I try from WinRE or would that account just be stored on the temporary X: drive?

I think we're going in circles here. May be time to bit the bullet, backup your data and do a repair install. If that doesn't fix it then do a clean install. Painful but it should resolve the problems.

Jumping in to ask a few question or two. Don't let my post distract you from the path you are on.

Are any of the other accounts admin or are they standard users?

I read a members post a while back that spoke of recreating the user profile, don't know if I booked it or not. While I look, does that jog anyone else's memory? There might even be a tutorial on recreating a user profle.
The steps were fairly simple..,, I'll post what I find.

If you have another admin account, try creating a new user profile on that login.

Yeah I tried admin from normal boot, same happened as in safe mode.

Will try SFC /SCANNOW now.
