see title^.

Pretty much what happened is I turned on my computer and I got smacked in the face with this. So far I've run five antivirus and malware programs to no avail and chkdsk says no bad sectors to top it off this drive is less than four months old. My specs are on my profile.

thanks

You may try to download the diagnostic program from the HD manuf. If it is Western Digital, you can find the diagnostic program here.If it is a seagate HD you can find Seatools here. If you think it is a virus or spyware I suggest Malwarebytes.

You need to run the chkdsk in "fix mode". Right click, open command prompt as administrator and type this in:

Code:
chkdsk c: /f
Replace c: with the drive partition you want to check.

Malwarebyte suggested by essenbe is a very good (possibly the best) anti-malware out there so use that too.

sorry I didn't specify, I had already run chkdsk /f which reported no bad sectors and my hard drive was fine also I have run malwarebytes as in the past it has saved me from confikr which said my computer was clean, but unfortunately I ran the seagate test which confirmed my SMART system has failed :(

if this is purely a hardware issue I have a program that can clone an HDD to another if I did this would the problem persist?

No. Although the SMART system implementation differs on drives from various manufacturers, it is always independent of actual drive contents available to the operating system.

Some information you may find useful;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.M.A.R.T.

So, you can clone to another disk without any problems.
