Hi,

As a tech neophyte idiot who is quite literally becoming a lunatic over error messages that prevent every attempt to install apps in .msi formats. I've done all I know, from CMD com admin rearm (hit my limit of 5 long ago), "/ unregister" and System Restore back to before this issue developed - all for naught

NOTE: (Upgraded Win Vista OEM to 7 PRO (SP1) a few years ago from ISO file & Prod. Key bought on eBay with ISO file & Key bought on eBay 2-3 years ago. Suddenly, though, 'not genuine' Error 0xC004F009 messages show on every restart or boot-up. Per MS, the eBay seller exceeded their end user key limit, so that's allegedly why this happened to me.

Can anyone please suggest viable solutions? I'm in a Catch-22, as MS no longer sells Win 7. And I've read some very bad reviews for Reimage Repair by users who advise buyers to "BEWARE" or lose their shirts.

first off thats 2 different problems.

the .msi installer one will relate to the Trusted Installer
you could download Tweaking.com portable - use the reset Permissions option.

As for the non-genuine thats a bigger one
google the key you have if it comes back with multiple hits OH DEAR, nothing we or MS can/will do.

Looking at your system specs you definately need more RAM, as your running a 64bit OS.

Might be a good time to bite the bullet and go for a newer machine.

ROY: Did you mean to imply that a pirated Win 7 OS activation key has no relation to why the machine it's associated with fails to install software? Quite frankly, the installation issue is far more problematic for me than "non-genuine" error messages I rarely see anyway.

Another vital note is TWO different MS reps verified my Win 7 Pro key and advised its validity right before helping me install the ISO file downloaded from an MS website. A 3rd MS rep further stated that "non-genuine" error is caused by eBay seller's exceeding max. limit on end user licenses.

So, for my future reference, can you offer a bit more detailed explanation of why eBay activation keys are notorious piracies? Is it possible to workaround this by simply rebuying a new key & ISO file each time the previous ones deactivate 1 or 2 years later?

If MS no longer sells keys to activate its own out-of-date Win 7 OS, how can 3rd parties offer teh buyer any guarantees against perpetual reoccurrence of this problem?

Yes, even tech neophytes can see that twice the RAM it had before is never bad for any PC system. But geeks at Sony Inc. are IT freaks who didn't let this model's RAM nodules expand twice more than once from 1GB off the shelf to 2GB at "optional" self expense. Can a 2gig machine run a 32-bit OS as efficiently as 4 gigs running 64 bit OSes? If so, what task(s) must be done to accomplish that?

Oh? Pray tell when hell sees daylight after its decrepit device made its debut a decade ago? Since then, I bit 7 more bullets that hit my A$$ets so hard, no high regard or trust is left for PC makers, movers or fakers. Instead, one is wise who relies on their own counsel to rarely go wrong in the long run. But self-guidance requires fuel to sustain an endless quest for fresh knowledge of best quality in highest quantity as possible to attain. That's what I hope to gain here with no fear of lies or false guise from unbiased sources.

So, what newer device(s) do you suggest and how to determine which one(s) truly qualifies?

On a laptop with less than 4G of memory you should have installed Win 7 32, not Win 7 64 bits. It will run much better.
To install 32 bits you need to do a fresh install.

Roy has asked twice to run the MGAdiag so he can tell what is the problem with your license. Please do it.

See an image below to show the main MG Diag Tool dialog that came up when all tests had run. Please direct your attention to a red rectangular area at the top and advise which tab's info you must review.

Yes, both ID and Installed Key, for 100% NEGATIVE results, based on no match found in Google Search results. Is that good or bad? What steps come next to ensure a thorough investigation?
NOTE: From best I can make of MGV Diag test results, my Prod. ID and Installed Key are both valid!(?)

I'm tickled pink to tell you that Tweaking app link in your 1st reply did the .msi trick all by itself!

Once it finally quit more than 60 minutes and 600 disk errors fixed, i installed Office 365, MG Diag, and any other program that ran on that same installer format. What a relief to finally resume vitally important PAYING work. (Which is why this reply comes belated. But NOT lightly stated by any means )

Why? I'm given to understand that 64 bits can run a heavy duty program like MS Office, et al., on less memory. NOT to argue, but gain better grasp for greater overall insight that might help later.

To install 32 bits you need to do a fresh install.

But WHERE to find legit Install key or Product ID that won't go bad 2 years down the line again?

from the part i can see, the info that MS rep3 gave was ambiguas.

You have a Retail licence, which can be transferred to another computer
BUT you cannot have >> 2 << using it at the same time, hence the error
Not maximum usage exceeded but more than 1 current user, which made my original comment wrong.
I DO need to see all of the report, to confirm the above as MSDN also appears as Retail
If the seller sold it more than once your fighting the others for top dog rights, ergo never ending
better news is that the key is valid for both 32/64 bit versions


RAM/32 v 64
OK lets put this in laymans terms

you have a 2 cars a) 1 litre runabout b) 3 litre 4x4
put 5 people in them - find a very long steep mountain road - car a will fail to make it to the top
They also use different types of fuel - Economy and Premium
car a can use both car b cant

The moral
Both cars work - But performance depends upon engines(RAM) fuel(32/64) people(programs) in use

Getting hold of a 32 bit Iso is not a problem.

MS doesn't sell Win 7 any more.
- Windows keys for sell on Ebay: Same legit key can be sold to more than one buyer. When you have a problem, you can't find the seller (vanish).
- Reliable companies like Newegg still has legit win7 licenses for sale.

Win 7 32 or 64 bits.
- Win 32 can only deal with 3.2G of memory. If you have more than 4 G, Win 64 is mandatory.
- Win 64 uses around 2G for itself. Win 32 uses around 1G.
- You have Win 7 64 and only 2G and part of it is used buy the GPU. There will be no memory for programs and you're going to make use of slow disk virtual memory.
- If you install Win 7 32, 1 G will be for Win and 1 G will be for programs. Will run much better.

A Windows key can be used on Win 32 or win 64. If you don't have a disk, here is MS link to download it.

No clue. But MV Diag report by itself is 6 pages of copy/pasted text in MS Word. Tweaker's chit takes up several subFOLDERS on 4G jumpdrive. So, I'll TRY to post or send by PM.

My problem is no RAM 'engine' power by low-capacity to use high-grade OS 'fuel' efficiently that contains 64 bits, as its huge strains on various built-in components not made to stand multi 'passenger' workloads. So, my 2-GB runabout engine's drive train, piston and transmission need every microdot of gas it can sip to haul 5 people on 12-hr trip. BUT fact remains: NO tiny Yugo fed best hi-test gas is gonna outrun SUV 4x4 all-terrains V-8 motor - uphill or along straight paved asphalt interstate roads.

Yet, I can level the field some by relieving low-RAM subcompact of superfluous internal fuel combustion burdens. That sum it up well 'enuf in a nutshell?

Getting 32 bit ISO not a problem.

Once again... what about a KEY to unlock ISO for useful function if present cred is invalid?

. Thanks for the link to an ISO file that took 1/2 hr to save on 8G jump drive (?). Now that I've got #1 down, how to fix my Biggest #2 Bugaboo by getting a new key without paying big $$? Or will the ISO file take care of that, too?

ISO is the Windows OS & is available free. There is no accompanying key as a retail copy that you purchase from a store would have or an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) key which is provided by M$ to install Windows on their computers. The OEM key is tied to the Motherboard of the computer. The key is what you pay for which provides you permission from M$ to use legally use their software, i.e. activates windows genuine in system, you receive updates, etc.
