I try to insytall Autocad, error, so i try to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package
In both cases it writes Windows installer service could not be accessed.

Hi KarolR,

If you have Win7x64 installed, yes indeed your system supports 64 bit programs.

  1. Did you disable several processes? If so, why please?
  2. Are all your Windows 7 updates installed?
You can use Simplix Update Pack for Win7 Updates!

MajorGeeks Simplix update pack

Excerpt from MajorGeeks: Simplix UpdatePack enables you to update your live Windows 7 system as well as integrate hotfixes into a Windows 7 distribution.
This update pack allows you to update Windows 7 SP1 (x86 x64) and Server 2008 R2 SP1 live operating systems, as well as to integrate the updates in the distribution (Install.wim). It can be installed in any language. Includes all critical, recommended, and security updates and updates for all versions of Internet Explorer.

Wow!
What a convoluted and complex way to do something so simple.

Windows Installer is a service, quickly accessed by just Running "Services.msc" from the RUN box.

Scroll down to "Windows Installer" and right click it. Under "Properties" you can change the way the service runs, and stop or start it.

I just checked mine, and it was set to "Manual". I changed it to "Automatic", just for grins.

You can do that with any "Service".

Good Luck,
Tm
