Windows is Lying

Suddenly Chrome does not load automatically when windows starts. My normal method of getting this to happen is by using Tune Up Utilities and choosing which programs are to start when Windows does.
So I tried going to - Start - All Programs - click Chrome - drag the expanded chrome icon down the Program list and release it in the Startup Folder. That folder reads "Empty". Not true because I also have Windows Live Mail start on startup, and that is starting correctly. Anyway trying to drop Chrome into the Startup folder just does not work. It stays labelled as "Empty". Can anyone think of a suitable punishment for this offence.
I did try uninstalling Chrome and re-installing, but it made no difference.

Try copy and paste chrome icon to here> C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup on your pc. This works for me on my box.

Thank you for your advice. I did as you said and again found that the folder was listed as empty. The copy and paste procedure moved it as you suggested.
I then reset the computer and Chrome obeyed instructions by duly appearing - However; it opened 2 Chrome tabs! Never mind, that is better than none.
I suspect that there are 2 startup folders on my W7. One is the regular one you specified and one is within the "Tune UP Utilities" Program folders. That would account for the fact that the 3 or 4 other programs which I also require to start on startup, do start. Now for some reason the Chrome one is now doing as its told in both the TUU and the Windows Folders.
After I had successfully done the copy and paste I wondered if I could have done that more simply by doing it within the original list of "All Programs" - rather than what I had tried (dragging and dropping)

I am not a fan of Tune Up Utilities, but that said, your original method should also work. But id Tune Up Utilities is also trying to autostart Chrome, that may explain it. If so, and you are going to keep using it, then you can remove the shortcut in the startup folder and return to just one tab starting. If you have CCleaner, look st the Tools> Startup section and you can see what is starting with windows. A Guy
