I got the "not genuine" error when I logged in this morning. The weird thing is, I don't recall logging off last night or rebooting. It's not normally something I do. I generally only lock my computer. So it seems that something logged me off or caused a reboot, and now I have this issue. I rebooted after I got the error and the error persists.

I built this PC myself about 2 years ago from parts I ordered online. I bought a retail copy of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and installed it myself on just this one machine. I may have wiped the machine and reinstalled Windows a second time at some point in the past. I really can't remember. I've done that so many times on the computers I've built in the past that I can't recall if I've done that on this specific machine, but I don't think I have.

The Key in use is an MSDN Key from a not-for-resale MSDN account.
Unless you are an MSDN subscriber, you are not entitled to use the Key – and whoever sold it to you was not entitled to do so.
You need to claim an immediate refund from the vendor - do NOT accept the offer of a new key (all they are trying to do is to get past the 45-day claims window or avoid you sending the evidence of their crimes to the authorities)

How did you determine that it's an MSDN product key?

I'm pretty sure it's not. I bought a full, sealed retail package. I have the genuine DVD, and the license card with the key on it. I purchased it in 7/2010 from Buy.com from seller "Sun King Technologies". If it's counterfeit it sure looks damned good to me. Is there a way I can tell from the packaging, DVD, or license card for sure?

If you look at the Product ID, you'll see that the second set of characters is -067- which is reserved for MSDN-type licenses.

Tradert, Noel is spot on with his analysis... That is a MSDN key, and not a genuine OEM key. Microsoft does not make an OEM Ultimate version of Windows 7 ...That and there is no SLIC table, and that alone shows that your copy is not valid...

MS did, in fact, create OEM versions of ALL editions of Windows 7 (except Enterprise).
The lack of a SLIC table can be due to a number of things - and is irrelevant when talking about Retail licenses or MSDN ones.
