Windows keeps crashing after login

I start up windows login fine but then when it starts loading the shortcuts turn into pieces of paper with the corner folded over it takes like 20 start ups to get a good one and also recently whenever the screen saver should come on it just shut itself off I have no idea what to do I've disabled as many programs to stop running at startup as possible using msconfig (through safe mode) and it still hasn't changed anything so now I have no idea what to do.

Hello ! Welcome to SF !

Login to Safe Mode and try to create a New Window Profile and see if you have the same problem it could be a bad profile. And from MSCONFIG try to disable everything including Virus Protection and see if that fixes the issue. Run Selective Startup using System Configuration . In Safe Mode go to Start | Event Viewer | Windows Logs | Application and see if you find any errors. If so post it here.

Thanks for the quick response! i found alot of errors (11, 472) didn't realize how many there were and couldn't figuire out how to post them all but i'll try to see if a new profile helps thanks!

sorry for the stupid question but my computer says it can't open it and requests i choose i program. is there any program i should download to open it?

Seems like the Antivirus / Firewall Program on Tool bar on browser is blocking the application. More likely the extension might have change to .download try to change the extension to .exe and see if that works.

If that didn't help then go to Start | CMD | Right Click and Run as administrator. Then type in

wevtutil qe Application /c:50000 /rd:true /f:text > c:\Event.txt

then post the Event.txt from C drive.

i tried to upload the .txt file but it exceeds the sites upload limit of 1 mb for .txt so it won't let me upload thanks for all the help though

If the New Windows Profile is working fine the just leave it alone. Probably it's just a corrupt Windows Profile.
