Windows keeps freezing constantly after getting new harddrive

Hi all, hoping I can get some help with a problem I've had for some time now. My harddrive crashed about a year ago on my Lenovo. I was able to pull all my files with the Lenovo recovery and they sent me a new harddrive since it was still under warranty. I installed the harddrive and re-installed Windows. I've never installed any hardware before, so don't know if I messed anything up, but it seemed pretty straight forward.

Since then, my Windows will freeze randomly almost every single time I use the laptop. I mostly use it for general personal stuff - web browsing, Excel, photos, etc. It tends to happen more when using a web browser, but still happens when doing anything and everything else. I'll get anywhere from a few minutes to an hour of use before it freezes, with it averaging at about 15-20 minutes.

(Edited) I've tried to make sure my Windows updates are current, but there is one update that keeps failing to install - "WindowsUpdate_800B0100". Also, I believe I tried to make sure all my drivers were updated last time I tried to fix this, but haven't done so since. If that's something I should do, I'd appreciate help on the proper way to do that.

One other thing, I started getting this message at Windows startup:
Run DLL
There was a problem starting
C:\Users\FLYINF~1\AppData\Local\Temp\pnetoc.dll

This specific module could not be found
Not sure if this is related or not, but I think this started popping up after I was first having the freezing issues, so it was freezing even before the Run DLL error.

I also ran the SFC scan according to the directions on here, and it did not find any issues.

I haven't filled in all my specs, but let me know if I should do that or if it doesn't matter. Thanks for any help!

Hi Flyinfish, Welcome to Sevenforums.

First thing you should check for any errors on the hardisk it self. Follow this tutorial.

If you find any errors on the disk. Follow this tutorial, to log the errors.

Hi archer, thanks for pointing me to that. I ran the scan and checked the log and it concludes with "Windows has checked the file system and found no problems." Any guidance on what to do next? Thanks!

You have mentioned in your first post that you ran SFC. I will suggest you to run the scan for atleast 3 times and post the details here. The DLL file that is missing might needs to be fixed and we would know that via SFC scan.
