Hi,

Yesterday I got an email from Microsoft stating that in the next couple of weeks my existing @live email address would no longer receive mail due to upcoming "changes".
The email suggested updating Live Mail 2012 to resolve this, but the update wouldn't install.
After checking the About page I discovered I'm using the Live Essentials 2011
version of Live Mail (Build 15.4.3555.0308), which Microsoft says is now unsupported.

1: Is there a way of updating the Live Essentials 2011 version of Live Mail to the 2012 version,
other than upgrading to Windows 8.1/10?

2: I have several other email accounts synced with Live Mail. Once the changes have
taken place, will I still be able to use these other, non-@live accounts with Live Mail?

3: Microsoft suggests that Live Essentials users switch to outlook.com.
If I did this, would I be able to sync my other accounts like I can with Live Mail and would I have to manually set up each account?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks Brds7t7.

I was going to download this but am having second thoughts after reading about various problems some people have run into after installing the KBKB3093594 patch. Presumably I can't stay with Live Mail 2011 due to it being unsupported. What's the best thing to do?

I launched the Live Essentials update to see what would happen and it gives you the option to 'upgrade' Live Mail. Is it okay to just run this, or do I have to uninstall Live Essentials 2011 first?

Should be fine to upgrade. That's the option I used.
If you uninstall then reinstall you might have to setup all your email accounts again.

Thanks Brds7t7, I upgraded to Live Mail 2012 a couple of weeks ago and haven't run into any problems so far.

Just noticed KB3093594 has appeared as an 'optional' update in Windows Update. I'm not sure if this patch is the same as the one Microsoft suggested people install in continue using Live Mail 2012 (and the one that was causing a lot of problems for some people), but if it is, is it necessary to install it, or is it best to wait a while? So far Live Mail's been working okay without it.
