I needed reinstall MovieMaker 2011 so I uninstalled by using Add/Remove in the Control Panel. When I attempted to reinstall it the wizard indicated that the Movie Maker is still installed and the process stalled there.
WL MovieMaker(and PhotoGallery) is no longer listed in the Add/Remove Programs.
I tried the third party uninstaller utility but the situation was the same as above.
I deleted all MovieMaker(& PhotoGallery) related files.
I deleted all registry keys and values which are hit by key words of "MovieMaker" and "PhotoGallery but the installer, wlsetup-web.exe still did not let MovieMaker(& PhotoGallery) install. Another word, the installer still says the MovieMaker is installed!
Any suggestion is appreciated.

Add and Remove is for Windows XP.

Ever since Windows Vista, it is called Programs and Features.
So it is called in Windows 7.

Please go back to Programs and Features, look down the list. Can you find Windows Live Essentials 2011 on the list ?
If yes, please right click at it, and then click Uninstall.
Watch the screen, it will ask you which program(s) do you want to uninstall. See if Movie Maker is still on the list. If it is, then you have not uninstalled it as you thought you had.

Sorry for the incorrect word I used. I meant "Programs and features".
I tried another third party uninstaller utility which listed the Windows Live MovieMaker and PhotoGallery and so I let it run uninstall process.
I ran Windows Live Essential installer and noticed that MovieMaker and PhotoGallery became installable items. Thus, they were installed.
Problem now is that "WLXPhotoBase.dll is missing. . ." message is displayed if I attempt to launch either one of them.

I am not comfortable in telling others how or where to find a missing dll.

I'll leave it to the much more knowledgeable people in this forum to help you.

Sorry about that.

This whole ordeal began when I saw "WLXPhotoBase.dll is missing . . . ", hence "I needed reinstall MovieMaker 2011" as stated my original post. Another word, I just came back to the same place after all that. What a wast of time! The third party uninstall utility - Uninstall Cleaner - I found as mentioned above is a side benefit through this struggle.

I know where to get WLXPhotoBase.dll. It is in my another w7 machine, but copying it does not work because I tried that.

Running sfc /scannow returned "Some of the corrupted files found could not be repaired". I guess reinstalling the W7 appears to be only effective remedy left for me.

Did you create a System Repair disk on Day One?
If yes, you can use that and see if that will fix the problem.

Otherwise, re-installing appears to be the way to go. Not because of the missing dll but because of sfc results..... corrupt files cannot be repaired.
Make sure you backup your personal files before re-install.

Good luck.
