Hello,

I've used WLMM for several months - found it the easiest way to soft-edit Fraps videos and upload them with the best quality.

I recently installed Adobe Premiere Pro (CS5.5) to my computer, and after the day I am experiencing black preview screen in the WLMM.

All the recorded videos work well in Windows Media Player & VLC player. They also play well in Premiere pro.

In the WLMM, I add a video:

The small preview screen is black, but sound is coming through. On the right side I see the frames as they should be.

I am using:

- SB 1155 set with ENGTX570 DCii. Latest WHQL drivers for BF3. Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

I have tried:

- Uninstalling Premiere Pro. Reinstalling Windows Live. Installing several CODEC packs.

I could also find older topics related to this, but none that have been hot in several years.. am I the only one who experiences this? How should I fix it?

Regards,
Otto

After uninstalling Premeire Pro, make sure to do a System Restore that was created BEFORE Premiere Pro was first installed. ( Always make a system restore before installing any new software just in case... so you can rollback)....

I am also having the exact same problem. The preview window is black, and sound is coming through. Please let me know if anyone comes up with a solution to this problem. (For me though, it seemed to stop working after I installed an update for WLMM last week.)

This has a bug that affects Windows Media Center causing a black screen, Might be same issue with Movie Maker.

I rolled back the Graphics driver to version, 8.17.12.6837, and then the picture came back in preview mode in WLMM. Thanks a lot!! I hope Nvidia comes with a new update that fixes this:D

I was having this same issue! Downgraded the NVIDIA drivers to the ones from a few weeks ago - problem solved.

Many thanks :)

I found a simple technique to work around this "no video with only sound" problem.

When the video disappears under the Windows Movie Maker, simply go to Full screen mode and you will the video apprear back automatically !

Blank Preview Screen in Windows Movie Maker

I have tried to install the graphic driver 285.62 as mentioned in this thread but the installer said it is not compatible with my PC.
I have also tried to re-install lower version of Windows Live Movie Maker but still it did not help.
My current WMM is Version 2011 (build 15.4.3555.0308)
Need to get this working desperately.
Can somebody advise me?
It used to work but it failed to work now

Thank you.
Leanne

Same WLMM problem w/ differences....

I also have black preview screen in WLMM, and I have Adobe Premeire installed, but only ELEMENTS.
But my card is a Radeon HD 6770M.
I've tried wmv, mov, and other files, all of which play fine in WMP.
No good in WLMM. Kumar's full-screen idea did no good.
Solutions???
Ideas???
