Windows Mail Database Lost? Vista to Window 7

I just upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 and can't find my windos mail messages anywhere. I just read somewhere that I should have exported them first. Any chance of finding them if I didn't export them??

If you did an upgrade (as opposed to a custom installation) your data should be saved in the Windows.old folder. Have you checked it?

Can't import Email messages

OK - I did a lot of reading yesterday, and was finally able to find the messages at:


C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\WindowsMail.MSMessageStore

But - when I try to import them to Windows Mail Live, it says they have been transferred to the storage folders - but there is nothing there. I have tried numerous times to do this import with no luck.

Any other suggestions on how to get them into windows mail live?
