Hi,

I've seen that there are a lot of posts about getting 'windows not genuine' but have not managed to find a way to fix this.

My copy of Windows was running fine for a few months, then when I turned my computer on I got the 'not genuine' alert with the black desktop. It then went back to normal for a few months, and now it is back again.

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks!

This is the printout from the WGA:

Are you sure the copy of Windows that you have is genuine, just have to ask that.
Is this an OEM copy?
Have you run the Windows genuine tool to verify your copy?

I get the feeling it's a HP / Compaq computer that originally had Windows 7 factory installed & activated.

Is that the case?

Hi,

I'm pretty sure it's genuine, I bought it from a large reputable chain shop.

And yes, it's an HP that came with Windows 7 preinstalled...

Is this a known problem?

Thanks!

Reactivate with the Product Key on COA sticker, which may require doing the telephone robocall.

This will change activation from factory OEM-SLP mass-activation which may have a damaged file, to OEM-COA activation which is managed directly in MS Servers and what is used when Win7 is clean reinstalled.
