Windows not opening flash card

Hi,

I have a 4 GB flash card which i used on my mobile phone. It was out of my phone for about two weeks; during this time it saw no physical harm.

Now when i put it back in my cell phone, it asks me for "memory card password" which i have no idea of and on the mobile's device manager it shows the memory card to be "locked".

When i put it on the computer with my memory card reader even windows failed to open it. Attempts to troubleshoot it via windows failed and Recuva failed to scan it too.

I am now left with an SD memory card with 4 GB's information and i have no clue what i can do!

Any help?

PS. Oh and interestingly, though my flash card isnt partitioned, when i plug it to the computer it shows many drives, none of which open.

Give people time to respond...patience is the key. Since it says the card is locked, is there a physical switch on the card to lock and unlock it?

You are seeing the drives pop up because you likely have a multi-card reader, and when a card is inserted, the drive letters will show for each format it can read. My USB card reader uses four drive letter when plugged in, even if I only have one card inserted.

If your attempts at recovery software aren't working, then it is possible the drive is toast. Flash memory is unreliable, so data should never be stored on them that can't be replaced. Wait for more answers, but that is a likely outcome.

There is no physical key to lock it and i shall wait as you said . Yes i do have a multi card reader. Toast drive means dead?!
(i wanted to rep. you but it says i have to spread some first!)

Isnt there any way to hack into it and find the password?

There is a FExplorer which can hack it and then i have to find a txt file which will have my password written in it. Problem is it only works on 1st and 2nd version of symbian and my phone is a 3rd version.

Im trying to fix it by the computer if possible
