Solved Windows running off two separate drives when booted.

Hello,

Recently I bought two SSDs and attempted to transfer W7 from my HDD (E to SSD (C using the clone feature on the program EaseUS Todo Backup. I made an exact clone and now when I attempt to boot from the SSD it states that it is not a bootable drive. When I boot from the HDD, however it boots properly. What makes it strange is, even though I am booting from the HDD, the Resource monitor is showing that some of my system processes are running off the SSD. I do not have a W7 professional disc available right now to try startup repairs.

Any suggestions on what this might be?

Post a screen print of Disk Management using tutorial instructions by Brink.
Make sure everything is maximized so all info is shown in your screen print.

Has both Disk Management and Resource Monitor in case anyone asks to see that.
W7 is set in bios to boot off C: but was manually booted off of E: for this image.

From what i see in Disk Management Windows is running off the drive (Disk 0). In DM the [B]Boot[/B] partition is where Windows is running. In DM the [B]System[/B] partition is where the boot code is installed and used to boot-up Windows. I don't see anything running from [E] in your Resource Monitor screen print. You said you manually booted [E] for screen prints in post #3. Can you Boot off [C] and post screen prints ? I don't know why you have [F] Games and Programs as an [B]Active[/B] partition. I would mark [F] as [B]Inactive[/B], having it as Active could cause issues, see this tutorial: [URL]http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/197157-partition-mark-inactive.html[/URL] Maybe it is trying boot from the Games and Programs when you can't boot. Can you disconnect the [E] and [F] drives and see if Windows will boot-up ?

Adding to what DavidE said, sources say only the boot partition should be marked Active [in my case it's called System Reserved]. If no separate boot partition, then the OS partition [mostly C] should be marked Active. I have my C-partition set as Primary, all other partitions set as Logical.

FYI, you can always create a system repair disc in windows.

Control Panel>Backup and Restore
