Hi forumnites,
unfortunately the error:
Windows Security. These files can't be opended. Your Internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened.

C:\Temp\CLX-3170_Print\SetAlti.exe

I have checked the forum and nothing relates to this.

It is not a virus as it only occurs when a 'dangerous' file is to be opened.

I have attempted to add the file to accepted in IE9 Security, advanced, however IE9 won't accept this type of file.

I uninstalled IE9, however this prompt still stops me simply installing a print driver so I can print via my Exchange network from this client PC.

Any ideas on how to get Microsoft working?

SetAlti.exe may be malware, run a scan of Malwarebytes in safe mode

Thanks for the replies.
I tried running Malware in safeware, and as I thought the PC was clean, the Malware found no viruses.
The SetAlti.exe file is a standard file from Samsung Printer drivers.

The next step helped, however I found this earlier in a forum search before posting this thread.

Believe it or not, when I open Group Policy Management Editor on the client PC, the error:
Web Browser
One or more ActiveX controls could not be displayed because either:
1)Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page, or
2) You have blocked a publisher of one of the controls.
As a result, the page might not display correctly.

So, when I click on User Configuration, I cannot edit the necessary steps to maybe resolve this ongoing Microsoft issue.

Any ideas to help make Microsoft a workable product for human beings? I'm feeling the security settings on SBS 2008 and Windows 7 are too much, as too much time is wasted trying to operate simple functions, like a printer.

From the above description, do you mean that the printer works fine on other occasions?

Are the printer software and driver properly installed on the PC (C:\Temp)? Do you have the correct driver (http://www.siliconguide.com/drivers/device/1365/)? If you are not an Admin, you cannot edit the Group Policy settings.

Hi Corrine,
thanks for the reply. Yes, the printer worked fine and now works find on the SBS 2008 server where it is plugged into the USB port.

The drivers are installed on the SBS 2008 server, so really the client PCs shouldn't need drivers installed manually.

Regardless, the drivers do not seem to be installed correctly on the client PC as the printer won't print as the file this thread is about, cannot open due to IE security settings.

I am the server administrator and the driver is the correct file from Samsung for the CLX-3175FN (great little colour laser printer, much cheaper running costs too).

I have tried to install the Windows 7 64-bit drivers on the client PC. The SBS server has the correct drivers installed as the printer prints.

I still can't work out how to get around IE blocking the driver install which seems to be the problem.
