Windows sounds only through one speaker

Something strange, my Windows desktop sounds are only coming through one speaker. When I run the test in the control panel/sounds section both speakers work fine. I have full stereo in all games and apps just not my desktop sounds. The only thing I can think is that maybe MS is doing this so action sounds on the left monitor will come through the left speaker and those on the right monitor the right speaker though I only have one monitor so I can't tell.

Yes, definitely have my system set to stereo. All other music and games play perfectly fine but the Windows theme sounds still only come through one speaker, the right one. Kinda strange huh.:sarc:

Which sound card do you have? It is possible the you may need to reinstall the driver. I had a problem similar to your's recently, and I dismissed the idea that it was a driver issue, until I had gone in circles with other ideas. I even began to think that the card was bad, but uninstalling the card and reinstalling it solved the problem.
