windows sounds

Ok, In attempt to use the xp theme, minus the xp style, I assigned the logon and off wav files to windows. But when You start up or shut down they dont play the sounds, only if I log off or on. I do not see sounds for windows startup and shut down, what do I change? I do not log off as this desktop is mine alone, so the only time I log off is when I shut down to cool off.

Can it be done? Yes. Is it as easy to do as it was in XP and Vista? No. Have a look at both of these,

pick one and see if it will work for you if you're persistent in changing the start up sound.

I already know how to play with the damn sounds in the "sound" via control panel. I found the logon and logoff, I also found exit windows. Where is it for startup? Better yet, what is it called? Or does it only exist through res hacking that dll?
