Hoping someone can help me here. I have seen Noel DP post several resolutions but each seem custom to the errors the other user gets.

I ran SFC/Scannow with no errors. Ran Checksur and got errors.

This sounds to me like you may have to try going in and deleting the windows update catalog files and re running windows update and see what happens. If that doesnt solve the issue post back and we can take it from there.

Also have a pretty bad speaker setup which is a klipsch promedia 5.1 surround speaker setup with huge subwoofer and lg blu ray player/writer. Also a hp officejet pro 8600 plus wireless all in one and a logitech s7500 webcam.
when running windows update it states there is an update for windows update and that it needs to restart. it then crashes and fails with this error code. how do you remove the catalog files from Windows update?

Incidentally I searched several areas and saw resolutions here that Noel NP posted for other people.

NOTHING will fix the problem except properly replacing the missing files - I'll post a protocol later.

I've uploaded a file - p66aa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder p66aa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be one folder inside it (Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

CheckSUR itself is the general fix - people like me are left to deal with the stuff that it can't fix. Mostly it gets around 90% of such errors, missing the later or rarer ones - or it'd end up being the same size as Windows itself!
