I'm not completely sure what's causing this issue, as it seemingly appeared out of the blue. However, a few weeks prior I had a new hard drive installed and transferred my existing OS and documents etc (everything) across onto it using Acronis, so I'm thinking that it could be a hard drive failure, or the beginning of one.

Anybody got any ideas?

CheckSUR shows a large number of problems
Code:
Summary:
Seconds executed: 196
 Found 170 errors
CSI Payload File Missing Total count: 168
CBS MUM Corrupt Total count: 2

CBS shows nothing amiss - which is strange given the error type in the CheckSUR results.

I suspect that your quickest solution is going to be a repair install of Windows - see the instructions here....
