Hi there,

After a clean Windows install and numerous updates, the update KB3058515 stops @ 11% download
and error code 80092004 appears. I have tried several times, with the same result.
Also booted Windows several times and searched for new updates as well.

Could anyone tell me what I can do to solve this?

I have resetted IE 11 settings and even turned IE 11 off.
I have done a SFC check, no integrity violations where found.
I have attached the CBS file and WindowsUpdate log to this post.

Thanks alot for reading :)

Greetings,

Johan

WOW! an 800MB CBS.log!
It's too big for my usual methods to work - about the largest file I've been able to open is 500MB.
I'll try a few other methods, but it may take a while.
....
Got lucky first time!
Managed to reduce the file easily to 620MB, which my reader could open

There's only 60 'Error' lines - here's the errors associated with one set...

...all the ones I can see are of the same form.

...without the other data (CheckSUR.log especially) I can't see what we have!

Hi NoelDP,

Thanks for excavating the pile of numbers there :)

I was amazed myself about the amount of data this log contains.
Also the amount of errors I can't explain.
Have re-installed my pc just a halve day ago.

I have installed the SRC tool, the CheckSUR logs are attached in the first post.
Doesn't seem anything wrong in these logs.

A 2nd update is available KB2310138, also failed but instantly now with error 80010108.....

Thanks for the assistance!

CheckSUR is OK.
As far as I can see, all the recent failures in the Windowsupdate.log file are of the 'download failed ' type.
The one exception is an 800f0902 error - indicating that TrustedInstaller is busy.
Try this.
Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following command.

SC CONFIG TrustedInstaller /start= auto
(note the spacing - there is a space before 'auto'!)

close the window and reboot
Then try Windows Update again.

Hi NoelDP,

Thanks for the fast reply!

I have tried to run this command in Elevated Command Prompt. It seems that the command is not complete, I get a list of options when entered SC CONFIG TrustedInstaller /start= auto (with the space :) ) I have put a screen in attachment.

Have run this command to try, and restarted PC. Windows Update still fails @ 11%.

Thanks for your time!

My fault!
Although 'start' is more a switch, in the SC CONFIG area it's defined as a parameter,

This is the proper command...

SC CONFIG TrustedInstaller start= auto

Try that one and see what happens.

Hi,

Thanks for the proper command. This command seems to have changed something in the settings.
After a reboot, unfortunately this problem has not been solved yet.

Greetings,

Johan

I can't say I'm too surprised - it was rather a clutch at straws! :(
I'd say this was the result of one of the cryptography file being unregistered - except for the fact that in that case I would expect to see a lot more problems!
I'm not sure where to go next - apart from the obvious (and quick) repair install, if you have the media available.

After a new clean install, no problems anymore :) Had to refit my hardware into a new case so I figured aout a new install is probably better :)

Thanks for the time and sorry for the late reaction.

Kind regards,

Johan

No problem - I had lots of other things to keep me occupied! :)
Good luck with the new install.
