Windows Update keeps trying and failing

I have Win7 Pro 64 bit and the Windows update keeps failing to install the latest update. The update fails when I initiate the update, and it also tries to update on shutdown.

I followed the instructions here and ran the scan "sfc /scannow". After a while it came back and said that everything was present and ok.

I was unable to copy the CBS folder using the instructions, because I got an access denied error. But I was able to zip the folder using a different app.

I'm attaching screenshots of the update, the error message and the update history. However, I can't attach the CBS folder zip file, because I get the following message:

404 - File or directory not found.

The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

The CBS zip file is 101 megabytes, so maybe the forum web site is rejecting the upload due to the size. If needed, I can share the file and/or its contents on google drive.

Any help you can provide with this windows update problem is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

Hello and welcome Mark mate can you please follow this as you r specs are a little thin on the ground

Now before we can help we do need to know what is in your machine so please do this
System Info - See Your System Specs

or either enter the specs of your system in your forum profile the specs will appear when we click on that little box bottom left of the post screen it is for me the preferable option as it is easy. As you may appreciate it is very hard when you don’t know what one is working with for example a diesel or petrol engine.

(pretyped to save time)
Now the sfc is reckoned best run for three runs and if it were my machine I would be running this

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html< if necessary include the /f switch and if this does not makeany improvement then just run this switch instead /r in the commandline as per Option2

Runthese in safe mode and the sfc often best run for two to three runs –you can leave out the /r switch in ckdsk if you feel it not necessary
