Windows update says I am not administrator

I recently pluged in my desktop after about a year absence. I was going to run updates but it is not allowing me to do updates or turn on auto updates. say's "updates on this computer are controlled my your system administrator." I am admin and the only user on the computer.

Sounds like you have a group policy restriction set-up, follow the instructions from this tutorial

Hello,

I noticed that you said that your computer has not been updated since 2015. Then no wonder you are having problems, as Windows Update (Servicing Stack) itself has been updated since then.

That means that your computer will not get Windows Update to work until you update the servicing stack. Since Windows Update Service is now broken, you will need to update the Servicing Stack manually from Microsoft Update Catalog.
