Hi All,
Sir/Madam(s),
Every time i go for a clean installation , i get stuck to a screen , in between, asking to choose settings and make windows updates during installation. It, perhaps, tells that pc would be connected to internet all the time during installation. My question(s) are :
1.whether it is safe anyway ? you don't have an antivirus installed and you connect to internet all the time at that tender age ?
2.thanks to the driver rich Windows vista and onwards, that i managed to made installations with out those updates , but somebody told me that it has additional benefits ? Are 'windows updates during installation' only important to get latest compatible drivers or more than that ? ( my heart says it has more importance than that )
3. if we go for them what are the steps can be/should be taken to ensure that all get well ? what may be the difficulties, if any ?
4. for that, should we go for Automatic settings ? any additional precautionary steps and probable problems for Automatic settings ?
5. Little Bit Off The Topic and Forum : making windows updates for non supported OS(s) such as Xp, Vista (& Windows 7 in near future !) make any sense ? i mean should they be updated at all ? i think it would be better to get nearer to the latest, but what about stability issues ? i think the updates are stopped, suddenly! we never know about stability or they would have been packed into a service pack like thing ! for eg. when we install 'windows xp pro 32 with service pack 3' and check for updates, updates would be available ( i don't know much about it !). in that case Xp with sp3 should be a stable OS, but, then we go for updates which are suddenly stopped ?
Please suggest appropriately.
Thanks & Regards,
Vineet Garg.
[i posted the thread here because i think it is of more importance than just Windows 7 and a matter of general discussion and awareness. but i fail to think where it would be better to discuss all the windows os @ one place !]
[ thank God ! Microsoft has released a convenience roll for windows 7 service pack 1 ,in 2016, & they can be slip streamed into the win 7 sp1 installation media with ease (take care one update has to be made before the convenience roll):
