Windows Updates failing to install

Did you uninstall/reinstall the KB or not??
Also have a look at the logs from Cleanrmgr, not heard of that one, see if you can spot anything to do with scripting windows update.

Back tomorrow .

Looking but couldnt See

Hi Nightweb,
To busy looking at that one error code, MISSED the fact the Whole licencing store WASN'T there:confused:.....

need to recreate it, using the instructions in the screenshot.

Whole sections of coding just dont dissappear, please run your AV, and a scan with Malwarebytes Free.
(uncheck the trial option, and check enable rootkit detection in the dashboard settings.

Did you download a new prog just prior to these problems occuring??.

Evening Torchwood

First your commands
types "Net stop sppsvc" response was "
The Software Protection Service is not started.

More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3521."

I ran all your commands, 2 and 3 just returned a new line prompt, 4 returned "
The Software Protection service is starting.
The Software Protection service was started successfully"
the last one just popped up a windows activation windows saying "Activation was successful" no key needed, I assume this is because I have a factory installed Dell OEM version, going to reboot and repost now,

quick question on your post, (bit new to the internals of 7) which error code, what liencing store? would that be why I can uninstall updates but not install them? what whole sections of code? AV was run Friday night but I can rerun if you like (it normally takes a few hours) and will download Malwarebytes free now

Scanning with Malware Now

Hi Nightweb,
Didnt expect to see anything produced on 2,3 thats good.
Right lets reinstall the licence file
From an elevated command prompt run
cscript.exe %windir%\system32\slmgr.vbs /rilc
REBOOT

IF you dont recognise PUM/PUPs (potentionally unwanted progs/malware) Let malwarebytes remove them
I WOULD.

Then

Can you now run, from an elevated command mode
CHKDSK /R
And
SFC /SCANNOW

Reboot
then check if you can MANUALLY install KB 971033.

Then repost another MGAdiag.

About your questions
The error i was looking at was (22 1) just below Licensing Data-->
on a proper report you should have A LOT like this, top2 lines are yours, the missing chunk is what it should look like. See attachment
And yes No licensing store no updates

Hey Torchwood,

Looks like bad news, The License files installed successfully, ChkDsk scan ran full disc scan (Surface included) and found no problems, SFC ran and found problems but couldn't find them (the logs big but would that help at all?) I tried reinstalling the KB but the install failed still, I don't know if it helps but here's the MGADiag report:

your right

Hi Nightweb,
Couple of questions thou,
Did you swap your HDD for a SSD??
Do you have any recovery discs.
How far back do your recovery points go, were there any before you encountered the problem
The only other thing is have you used any optimiser progs, or is Norton 2011 causing a problem

Its lookin like only a reset to factory, or if you have any discs a repair install.

Hey Torchwood,
no problem,
No I haven't swapped my HDD for an SSD yet but plan to in the future and will proberly install fresh when I do,
sort off, I don't have any Dell Windows 7 disc's but I do have a Windows 7 OEM Disc,
I have two both from this month from Windows update, (I assume they are the successful Microsoft Security definition updates)
no I haven't used any optimister, I have Norton but it seems to be working fine and have bee for months, ah that's sucks, wonder what caused it, and why SFC can't repair when the system is live, guess have to piritise the upgrade :(

restore

HMM,
The earliest restore date, when you select it , it will list programs affected, see if any are MS.
DO NOT RUN IT, cancel once you've looked.
We might get lucky.

AH good youve got some discs,
you could try a repair restore using them and none of your data will be lost;)

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html?ltr=R

Although you have A N Others discs when you come to replace your hdd with an SSD and you use them you will need to phone activate, using the code on your comps Dell sticker.

System Restore says it can't detect anything affected by the restore point, (I checked both), Having a look at that now, bit confusing mixing them all up pity not just put in disc hope for best, I'll have a more better read now, but it'll just reset windows and updates, won't effect games or programs? how risky? "Although you have A N Other disc's?" with WinXP (where most of my repair experience is) when I reinstalled a Generic OEM Windows I ran a some program, it scanned the Bios and then I put swapped the reg key that matched the BIOS string and put correct OEMBios files in c:\Windows, is it not the same on Win7? or even backup WPA.db?
