Windows wakes up immediately from sleep

It is not going crazy to want your HD configured correctly and not completely wrong as it is now.

You are booting Win7 from a data partition.

Hello?

After a fair bit of grief, I can report the following disk management. So now I'm supposed to empty Storage/H, delete H, then recreate it?

Sleep trace is probably the first step. And no, that didn't help the sleep issue :(

Well that was great - SDK crapped out with an error and didn't install the WPT.

Please post up the error in the Tutorial thread or here and PM Cluberti to look at it. You get assistance from the top expert in the world on this since he authored our tutorial and is a resident here.

Think I've managed to get it installed. Windows Performance Analyser? One issue with the tutorial - the word 'sleep' is mentioned but I don't see the section where sleep is mentioned? Can you enlighten me?

Ok, that tutorial doesn't cover sleep modes, because the software doesn't trace sleep. It does every other mode including hibernate, but not sleep.

And how do you know this?

It...told me? I got a PM back from the chap you recommended, he said the mode is called 'standby' so I'll do that.

Ok, I think I did it correctly. Ran the trace, ended up with a 600MB file, which I then inputted to Windows Performance Analyser and saved as another 600MB file.

What do I do now?

I'm slightly concerned by a message it gave me - that this may contain personal information in it. I'm wary of publicly posting such content.

I've done just that. Thanks Greg, appreciate your help in this thread. You never know, I might actually get this solved before the next millenium.

Well the sleep trace is work but it always gets the defininitive solution.

Sometimes its incredibly arcane: A new Dell quad core had a 2 minute boot which was cut in half by a boot defrag of the System files, but could not be cut more until the 5400 rpm HD is replaced (thanks, Dell ).

Carl is a wizard at this.

Looking into this now :).

Looks like we may have a USB hub problem here, but further testing is needed. Unfortunately, this doesn't appear to be specifically related to any device attached to the USB bus, but potentially the USB bus controller itself.
