Hi,

I'am having problems when connecting to my router. Some times i can connect to my router on the first attempt, but after a while it disconnects randomly and i cant connect back without trying to connect about half an hour. Its also really slow although sometimes its superfast. When i cant connect to my router i try fixing it with troubleshooter and it's not succesfull most of the time, but somehow it repairs it and it connects to internet(if i am lucky). I'am running Win7 64-bit and i have Belkin USB wireless adapter ( Belkin surf N150) When i first bought the adapter it didnt connect to internet, so i throught it is not working and i got it replaced.
I got the same problem with the second one as well, it's been a quite long time since
i had this problem and its starting to annoy me really badlly.
I just cant figure out if it is something to do with my settings/windows or my wireless adapter. I dont think theres something wrong with router because my brother connects to it without any problems.(wireless) I want to show you the troubleshooter reports as well.

REPORT WHEN
TROUBLESHOOTER DONT FIX THE PROBLEM

After all the lights on the device are off, wait at least 10 seconds. 3. Turn the device back on or plug it back into the power outlet. To restart a router or access point that has a built-in battery, press and quickly release the Reset button.

I was having a similar issue with my new laptop and it started a couple days ago. I checked for the latest driver for my wifi, disabled firewall and antivirus (temporarily), all to no avail. Resetting my wireless router seems to have cleared up the problem, but it looks like you tried that early on.

Does your wifi router allow you to set the channel number it is to use?

1.if it is set to auto-change channel based on 'congestion' on the channel it is set on, try setting a channel manually, I have had problems with USB wifi sticks losing the connection , then being unable to re-connect when the router switches channel number itself.

2. If it has a fixed channel number , try changing to a different channel number , there may be interference on the channel number you are on right now.

in addition to changing the channel, also change the speed to just one type. such as just G or N. sometimes that helps with connection issues. Also don't use any crazy WPA2 or combination WPA Enterprise types. pick one such as just WPA in the router settings.

@Chilidawg, I will try reseting the router today but dont think its going to work, because i believe theres something wrong with my settings/windows.

@Linkmaster, my router does allow me to change the channel numbers manually i dont think it dont change it self. Also tired changing channel before but didnt work.

@Ha102surfer, yeah i know that chaging the wireless mode could fix the issue mosft of the time but most of the time this way dont work either. I am allready using WPA based connection so do you think changing this would make any good ?

Thanks for your replies...

did you get it fixed? the troubleshooting thingy is giving me the same exact error: 0x180600a (win7 64bit)
and on top of that, the system even disables all(!!??) of the new USB wifi adapters that i want to connect to the laptop, so what the heck is going on? (i can disable and enable them in device managed, but not under newtork adapters in the network/sharing center!? - while it actually stays Disabled in the center, no matter if i disable or enable it in device manager.... ?)
it cant even be a faulty wifi card, because everything works fine in windows 10 with the same exact card (dualboot)

and it ofc gave these errors too:
An unexpected error ocurred
Windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter.

Hi Jenny,
when you try to enable the device in Network do you get an error message

As your getting the problem in the Network section
can you check in the following for dissabled items
Services Local
System Configuration

if those are OK, couple of other things to check
are you running any group policies
There's a task running that dissables WIFI

any chance you could run the tool from this thread... ignore title gives masses of info
Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions

did you get it fixed? the troubleshooting thingy is giving me the same exact error: 0x180600a (win7 64bit)
and on top of that, the system even disables all(!!??) of the new USB wifi adapters that i want to connect to the laptop, so what the heck is going on? (i can disable and enable them in device managed, but not under newtork adapters in the network/sharing center!? - while it actually stays Disabled in the center, no matter if i disable or enable it in device manager.... ?)
it cant even be a faulty wifi card, because everything works fine in windows 10 with the same exact card (dualboot)

and it ofc gave these errors too:
An unexpected error ocurred

Is your router plugged into the modem? If so you may have a double NAT. To confirm that go to Search in Windows and bring up the command prompt by entering cmd into search. Now in the black DOS-like box that appears (command prompt) enter the following: tracert 1.1.1.1 (note the space). If the first two hops are local IP addresses then you would have a double NAT. Local addresses like 192.168.1.xxx or even a 10 range. 10.xxx.xxx.xxx There's even 172.16.xxx.xxx. Again, if the first two are local IPs of the same first numbers like the 192.xxx.xxx.xxx range you have a double NAT.

To fix a double NAT the modem needs to be placed into bridging mode. To do that requires you to access the modem via its IP address typed into your browser like you'd access a router... Refer to the manufacture's manual online or your ISP's help guides...

Food for delicious thought:

tracert means Trace Route. and the IP address of 1.1.1.1 is Cloudflare's free DNS service. You could use Google's of 8.8.8.8 or what ever you like. SO LONG! as those IPs are pingable... The protocol for ping is called the ICMP protocol. (Internet Control Message Protocol).
