While the latest updates my laptop freezing during update process and was unable to start up again.

I tried some repairs:

It restarts during System Restore process so I lost previous restore points.
It freezes during Last known good configuration so I lost that way.
It freezes or restarts every time when I start "cmd", system repair or chkdsk ... (booted by CD)

At this time I can't even Boot the Windows. Only black screen.
I can boot only "Falcon Four's...mini XP" by CD.

I have tried also:
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /rebuildBcd
- "Total identified Windows installations: 0"

I don't want to restore the computer back to factory settings because I have many Give away programs on it, so in that way they will gone forever.

Any suggestions?!

I am afraid reinstall is often suggested when it is not necessary.
I always look for other solutions first.

Yep, windows can not be interrupted when doing updates that require re starting etc. (for an update), can`t word that much better. Did you try a system restore using command prompt booting the install dvd ?

If that doesn`t work and you didn`t create any system images, you`ll be re installing windows.

This may point to a disk problem, either at the file system or sector level. I would boot to either the mini-xp or a boot disk of Seagate's Seatools, and run some diagnostics on the drive. In mini-xp that would be chkdsk /f /r ideally, but I would only use the /r if you have your data backed up.

You didn't complete the RebuildBCD until you export it and create new from Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start.

The salvation for failed updates is to System Restore to before the failure. If you don't have System Restore points then your system was otherwise corrupted and is likely due for reinstall especially if you still have the factory install which is the worst install of Win7 one can have, larded with bloatware and useless Duplicate utiltiies that interfere with better versions built into Win7.

Look over the steps for Clean Reinstall Windows 7 which assure you'll get and keep a perfect install as long as you stick with those tools and methods.

Reinstall is often suggested but I am looking for other solutions first.
