Windows XP Virtual Machine USB attach problem

I have Win 7 Professional x64, and whenever I attach a USB device (my mp3 player, to update its firmware), it installs the drivers needed, then after about 30 seconds automatically detaches (that is, it is shared and auto-reattaches to Windows 7). I have uninstalled and then reinstalled XP mode, uninstalled and reinstalled the Virtualization drivers, and tried using different USB ports. Any ideas how to make it stay attached until XP Mode is hibernated?

There are some restrictions with XP Mode. Something just don't work in XP Mode like they would in a normal virtual machine program.

MS included XP mode for running older programs that will not install or run on Win 7. So they have crippled it in someways.
When I used it I could not setup Outlook Express on it. The Mail settings/accounts just would not stick.

What is the problem connecting your MP3 player in Win 7 and updating firmware on it in Win 7?

It is now resolved, as I used another Virtualization program, but I eventually found the problem. It was that the Virtualization driver was missing altogether. I have no idea how it was deleted, but it was. VirtualBox provides an alternative with a driver in the setup. I think that the original driver came with Win7 Professional installation, and that if I ran the install disc, it would fix that problem.
