windows7 updates

i have a new 3 weeks old windows7 pre insalled laptop.
every time i check for updates windows proceeds to succesfully download every one of them, except for one particular download,[compatibility pack sp1],
it gets up to 22% and then freezes untill its timed out and i get the message
upgrade failed to download. this has been happening almost every day for 3 weeks
and its becoming a bit of a joke. does this problem affect anybody else with win7.

I probably wouldn't download that its dose not sound right SP1 for 7 is only in development and not even avalable for D/L.

My Win 7 system is kept up to date. I don't have that update and can't verify that it has ever been offered to me.

I would go back to Windows Update and try to get more info on exactly what that particular update is---and I wouldn't blindly accept all updates from Windows Updates. I get the crucial and important ones usually, but rarely anything else.
