WinMail or OE in Win7?

In trying to get WinMail from Vista to work in Win7, I made a new folder for "Windows Mail Beta" in my Win7 Program files. I copied in all the aforementioned Vista WinMail files. Nothing. Does Not Work!

I really hate Live Mail. The BIGGEST thing that bugs mt is that I have to deal with a different INBOX, SENT BOX, JUNK MAIL BOX, etc. for each and EVERY email account that I have. I have 7 and that's just too damn many to deal with. I liked WinMail much better as all the accounts used the SAME local sub-folders! Only ONE INBOX, ONE JUNK MAIL, ONE SENT Box to deal with! That was much better. I'd find it MUCH easier if there was a way to fix Live Mail to do that.

Anyone else as underwhelmed by my new $250 Win7 OS as I am? Other than the annoying changes in my notification area/tray that still don't make sense, it looks and works just like Vista. Just as slow, just as a resource hog as ever, just as many "gray/white outs", crashes and Not Responding's as before. I see no improvement.

All of my IM's used to close to the notification-tray as little icons. NOW, some do and others stay in the windows minimized area and I can't seem to move them - they will MINIMIZED, but NOT "Close" to the tray as before. What's the difference?

I am VERY disappointed in Win7. But then, it's Microsoft so what's new? All hype and damn little value!

Anyone got any ideas?

I Hope this helps Download Windows Mail from Vista for Use in Windows 7 .

I'm wondering why your computer is so slow with windows 7. You have way better specs then me and windows 7 runs great on my laptop. Im guessing you upgraded from Vista to windows 7. If you did i would recommend a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-windows-7-a.html so that you get all the junk of your computer and you will notice your comp will become much faster.

If you mean IM's like Window live messenger you can minimize that to the system tray by following these instructions Make Windows Live Messenger Minimize to the System Tray in Windows 7 .

As a general rule you can make programs that minimized to the system tray in Windows Vista do the same thing in Windows 7 by
Right clicking the program > select 'properties'> select the 'compatibility' tab> click the box 'run this program in compatibility mode for' and select 'Windows Vista Service Pack 2'.

Simon.

Well both of those suggestions were of some help. I had to go back to XP compatibility, but I DID manage to get all of my IM/Comm programs to minimize to the tray *Skype, WLM, Yahoo! IM, GTalk, etc., WITH EXCEPTION of AIM. That's always been the odd man out, hasn't it? Nothing that I've trided, including the compatibility chages, seem able to get that sucker off the minimized windows bar. In fact, it now shows up in both the Windows/Application bar AND the notificatiob tray. I guess I can, and will have to, live with that.

I did NOT get WinMail to work in Win7, but I was going by word of mouth and guess work. I haven't tried that very promising looking tutorial which I certainly shall after a good night's sleep and some new eye balls - I started this conversion to Win& at about 3 AM last night, almost 24 hours ago and I've at it straight. Need a rest.

I did do an "UPGRADE" from Vista Ultimate SP2 X64 in order to avoid having to reload all my apps (abd I have a LOT!!!) - that would have taken almost a week to track them all down and reinstall them. Still, the Vista was a very new and fresh install from X#@ to X64 so there shouldn't have been that much baggage. I'll have to look into that.

Still, I don't seem much difference, certainly not a lot of imporovement, and I still see the nont-responding thing alot and my system has akready crashed three times as I was fix some settings and reload McAfee. (I know, I know! Switching to Norton as soon as this subscription runs out in June!).

While I am hard wired to my internet viay cable modem, I can';t seem to get my wireless and Bluetooth LAN back up. Not using the wireless systems right now, but I will need to in about a week or so. Any good tutorials for settibg that up? The interfaces in Win7 is vaSTLY DIFFERENT THAN vISTA OR xp ABD i'M ADMITTEDLY STILL LOST. iN vISTA, i KNRE ALL THE TRICKS. tHEY DON'Y WORK HERE. Win7 SEEMS A GOOD BIT less USER FRIENDLY than Vista in this area. The claim was that it was all "automatic". NOT@ Neither automatic nor intuitive, may I say even not logical!?

Any tutorials and/or suggestions there?. Pretty much got the rest in progress. Thanks for every thing so far. BTW, please explain this "PIN"/"UNPIN" THING WITH THE BAR WINDOWS? Lost on what that does; I don't see any dufference.

Windows 7 should automatically detect you have a wireless network (if it's on).

You can check by clicking the internet icon on the system tray. The network should appear there. You may need to update your network adapter. Got device manager> locate your network adapter> right click and select update. If you can't find any updates there you may want to search the manufactures site.

I couldn't find any good tutorials (other forum members will probably find some really good ones) but maybe this could help you http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/55419-internetwork-troubleshooting-guide.html?filter.

When you pin a program to the "superbar" it stays there even if your not using it. It makes it easy to quickly access programs you use frequently.

superbar.PNG.

I'm only using chrome ( the chrome icon is bright) but all the other programs (like Firefox,Word, Skype and iTunes) are still on the "superber" even though i'm not using them, this is because i pinned them there.

Windows 7 is faster then vista in most areas but only by a bit if you keep or the stuff you had with vista you won't see much of a difference.
My vista was like your it was crashing, programs were freezing and it was very slow (BTW i think vista is agood OS except that i put so much junk on it and that i didn't maintain it so it became slow). So when i upgraded i decide to do a clean install (completely wipe Vista of my system) and windows 7 was really fast. I know it's a pain installing all your programs again ( I had a similar experience) but it's worth it because your computer won't crash and freeze and it will become blazingly fast.
