So as not to kill that other thread about FC2, I am starting a new one in hopes that we can get this mods going for this game.

Well, it did installed Far Cry on my Win 7 OS but with compatibility mode, I have also installed Matto 3 but it does not want to start, meaning, I click on it but it doesn't do anything.

I recall having some mouse/keyboard issues at some point before but I don't recall what I did to fix it and I usually never patch my games since all the patches are ment for MP play and not so much for the Campaign. I guess I should look into this as well.

Now, I did adjusted some video settings manually, like going from 1024 x 768 to my native 1680 x 1050... could that be the problem? You know, like I am clicking on the "Start Button" but it is not really there since I have moved to a different position to what the game requires?

I also installed the Matto 3 on the main directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\ but I remembered that the executable is under the Bin 32 folder... could that also be the prob? Can't you tell that I am jonesing? :p
wink.gif

Thanks to stormy13, I'll try to patch my game when I get home in hopes that it will be compatible with the Matto 3 mods. Matter of Fact I just downloaded the cummulative 1.4 patch from Ubi.

I also installed the Matto 3 on the main directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\ but I remembered that the executable is under the Bin 32 folder... could that also be the prob? Can't you tell that I am jonesing? :p ;)

You installed it in the right directory. So it should start. When you start Far Cry, go to "Mod" and you should see Matto 3, click it it will restart Far Cry, once done, do your setting and click new game. Should be working. Also do what stormy said about patching.

Later.

Peace.

I did all that but I did not play with the settings on the Matto 3 Mod, I guess I should have done so as well? It goes to show how much I know about mods huh! :o:p

Anyways, let's hope that stormy's suggestion does the trick. :D

Ok, installing the patch worked out the problem with the Matto 3 mod. I don't know if my computer is to quick for the mod or what but I could not debrief, it went to a blurry screen with a guy and all of a sudden I was on top of a sub with a inflatable waiting for me.

The zoom is a bit slow to aim down the sights but I do remember the game being that slow as well.

It takes a few bullets to kill the ai and other times 1 shot = 1 kill... go figure.

Now, I still have another question... if I install the Matto 4 mod, do I kill the Matto 3? I ask because I remember a warning me telling me something to the sort and I ended the install right there and then.

Thanks for starting this thread.

FYI Info - I have the Far Cry AMD 64 Patch (1.03) Installed on the game. This allows the game to be played in a 64—bit environment, originally designed for XP-64 but will play under Vista/W7 64.

Also, I’ve found that if I try to install the 1.04 patch on top, the game will either crash or has strange graphical anomalies like missing textures.

At any rate for me to play the game, I have to use the game’s 64-bit exe from the Bin 64 folder, the 32-bit exe goes into "not responding" mode and you have to Ctrl + Alt + Delete out.

So, If I want to play the game, including Matto 3, I have to use the 46-bit exe. No problem….

Well….Matto 4 is a different story. It requires the 1.04 patch to be installed or it won’t run, regardless of either executable file used, including its own desktop shortcut.

So, two trains of thought here….
1- Don’t use the AMD 64 patch and just patch up to the latest patch (1.04)
2- Patch up to 1.02, than install the AMD 64 patch that’s it.

Installing the 1.04 patch on top of the AMD 64 patch will cause problems (at least it did for me). However some mods, Matto 4, require 1.04 to be installed.

What's the big deal about the AMD 64 patch…. Performance & image enhancements

BTW there’s also the Far Cry AMD 64 Exclusive Content Add-on package.

So… Has anyone been able to install the 1.04 patch along with the AMD 64 patch? How?

Thanks.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but you can install Matto 4 without issue. Also, FYI, Matto 4 will create it's own desktop shortcut. So you can go directly from there, unlike Matto 3.

And yes, expect some bugs; You're playing on a 64-bit new OS ;)

That is tre cool, didn't know this thing came on 64 bit...

OK, now that we got that out of the way, wasup with those of us that are on Intel Chipsets? what do we do if we want to play on 64 bit? even though, at this juncture, I don't want to jinx or screw anything since I got the game working for me. :p

Also, I’ve found that if I try to install the 1.04 patch on top, the game will either crash or has strange graphical anomalies like missing textures.
I assume here that installing the 1.04 patch after installing the Far Cry AMD 64 patch is a No-No?
Did you try this in reverse by any chance?

At any rate for me to play the game, I have to use the game’s 64-bit exe from the Bin 64 folder, the 32-bit exe goes into "not responding" mode and you have to Ctrl + Alt + Delete out.
Again, this is good news but I rather not go through this hassle now that I got the game working.

Well….Matto 4 is a different story. It requires the 1.04 patch to be installed or it won’t run, regardless of either executable file used, including its own desktop shortcut.
I gotta try the installation again then, I might have misread something... most usual for me :o

All this AMD this and AMD that has me baffled to say the least but I expect you'll explain further as I doubt they kicked the intel chips to the curve.

I'll try again then to see what's what.

And yes, expect some bugs; You're playing on a 64-bit new OS ;)
Bugs are expected when playing old games like this with new hardware but again, what am I supposed to do in that mission of Matto 3, the guy didn't say anything.

I do love the fact that this is a true open world, you can go to any side of the island and the game will go on from there, unlike other said open world games, wich btw, we won't mentioned any names but it rhymes with Far Cry 2 :sarc: but w/o knowing what the objectives are, it is a bit of a downer.

So, hook a brutha up and tell me what is my mission in Matto 3?

Oh and I love the rendering of that pistol with the silencer and scope, although, I would have had preferred the suppressor on the M16. ;)

Oh and... +1 on the whole threadjacking... that was my bad. :o  :o

Though the patch was released in 2005 for AMD 64-chips under Windows XP 64, quite a few people have used it on intel chips witout issue.

How "well" does it work in relation to a 64-bit AMD chip I can't say, but I can say I've used it on my Intel based system under Vista 64 without issue (other than the graphical anomalies when installing the 1.04 patch on top of it).

Also, I’ve found that if I try to install the 1.04 patch on top, the game will either crash or has strange graphical anomalies like missing textures.

Yes (at least for me)
Yes tried both ways.

All this AMD this and AMD that has me baffled to say the least but I expect you'll explain further as I doubt they kicked the intel chips to the curve.

Again, old patch, works with Intel chips

And yes, expect some bugs; You're playing on a 64-bit new OS ;)
Bugs are expected when playing old games like this with new hardware but again, what am I supposed to do in that mission of Matto 3, the guy didn't say anything.

I think the last time I played both Matto 3&4 was about 3-4 years ago, on XP since Vista wasn't even in beta form yet, so I wouldn't remember for the life of me. Sorry.

In fact one of the reasons I want to get Far Cry set up again is so I can play those mods again. :)

I do love the fact that this is a true open world, you can go to any side of the island and the game will go on from there, unlike other said open world games, wich btw, we won't mentioned any names but it rhymes with Far Cry 2 :sarc: but w/o knowing what the objectives are, it is a bit of a downer.

Answered above :(

As for the thread hijacking thing it happens, we all do it sometimes, including me. I just make a conscious effort not to do it. It's easy to get sidetracked. NP ;)

Hope I've answered your questions :)

Back to killing baddies I go then... :)

Well, in Matto 3 that is as I can't make Matto 4 to work.

I did installed it in the Main directory as asked. I have given it Admin rights as well but I have a funny feeling that I still need to elevate the bat file to even higher admin rights but I don't know or remember how to do that... any takers?

I mean, I double click on it (Matto 4 icon on the desktop), the admin rights pop up, I give it the ole OK click, I see the command prompt window pop for a few secs and then it disappears again very quick.

I do have all the admin right but that did not do the trick. Now, I usually click on the properties, then on the Advance tab and I tick on the Run as Administrator box and this helps with all my apps and games but I went to Matto 4 advanced tab and I untick it... that seemed to work.

All is well again... go figure!

Well, the installation of Matto 4 ruined my profile of Matto 3 and Far Cry at the same time... I can say for sure whether this happened for something I did, although I doubt it but, I am just stating this here for others to be careful.

Aside from this, when I want to start a new profile and play regular Far Cry (No Mods), the mouse does not move laterally or up & down... great! :(

I am going to uninstall everything and start again to see if that solves the issue

I don't understand how "Matto 4 ruined my profile of Matto 3 and Far Cry at the same time" Can you explain? Also, did you install the Matto 4 Patch (v1.1) ?

As I stated earlier, I installed Matto 4 without issue. However, because I don't have the 1.4 patch for Far Cry installed, the mod won't run, but.... it hasn't hosed anything else.

If your "profile" got ruined, somehing else is going on, and not neccesarily with the mod itself.

Good luck on the reinstall.

Just want to report that I got Matto 4 workng without the Far Cry 1.4 patch. The initial startup did take forever, in fact I thought the game froze, but I just let it sit and it eventually started. I also reinstall the Matto 4 patch just to make sure it was installed.

Again, I'm playing Far Cry with the 1.3 AMD 64 patch installed so I need to use the 64-bit exe to start the game. Both Matto 3 & 4 work under this config so I'm happy.

Signus, it is hard to explain and I didn't really give it much thought since I had finished playing the matto 4. Well, I assume that once you get to that lab and you have to deal with all those baddies (I hate boss type gameplay btw) you are done. I kept trying but I after a few dies, I decided to call it quits and uninstalled it.

If I started Matto 4 I could see the profile for Far Cry + the Matto 3 profile + the Matto 4 profile but, if I went to far cry and I tried to load the Matto 3 with the profile, I didn't have any saved games for it... same thing for the Far Cry profile, no saved games.

Hey AstaLaVista,

Sorry for getting back to you so late, my system's been down for a couple of days. Been doing some hardware updates. I'm up again, partially.

Uh you lost me here...

If I started Matto 4 I could see the profile for Far Cry + the Matto 3 profile + the Matto 4 profile but, if I went to far cry and I tried to load the Matto 3 with the profile, I didn't have any saved games for it... same thing for the Far Cry profile, no saved games.

Each game is it's own. So if you have a saved game in Far Cry, it doesn't tranfer over to Matto and vice versa. Same thing with profiles. Each game is seperate.

Perhaps i'm misunderstanding you?

Thanks

I created 3 different profiles, thinking that if I didn't I could have the problem of deleting or saving over the other games (FC, Matto 3 & Matto 4). I use a different profile name for each game.

Say I opened Far Cry, once on the main menu you click on Mods to get to Matto 3, I could see the profiles listed there for each game but, of course, I would choose the correct one for Matto 3... same thing would happen if I were to go to Matto 4 control panel and open the game from there.

The problem was that, after playing Matto 4 and quitting the game, I opened up the regular Far Cry game (from the FC icon & not the Matto 4 icon), tried going to the Campaign I had already started, tried to load my last check point but I didn't even had 1 saved game, ditto with trying to go to Mods & Matto 3, no saved games to load... so I assumed that the installation of Matto 4 had something to do with it

Sorry if I am still not making any sense, don't know how else to explain it to you. Bottom line is that I am done with the Mods and I am going over another FC campaign until I find something else to play.

so I assumed that the installation of Matto 4 had something to do with it.

No. Each game has it's own save system; you can't import/tranfer profiles from one game/mod to the next.

Anf FYI, I don't even have a user profile setup, I just use the Default one.

Sorry about your issues.

Good luck.
