Woops! This is embarising....

The last two versions of FF keeps posting this message after a fresh start of that browser. Don't know if it is my machine or the browser. Any history on this from other users?

Its one of those things that happens every week or so. Nothing I can predict. If I have FF open and shut off the system it seems to be prone to give me that message on the next start up. As of lately, I have been closing all programs before shutdown. Seems like?? Win7 should be able to handle shut downs like this without much todo. I have searched the system events, FF error console and tried the "about:crashes" in the run box. I have seen past crashes there, but the last one was 6 june 2010. I get the hint that FF is saying that it was not able to save my settings on last shut down and gives me a choice of attempted recovery or just start a fresh session with the oops comment. Google search was limited, only noting the error in Ubantu as roncerr pointed out.

Do you have tabs mix plus installed? I had similar issues with its session manager .. maybe it was a conflict with other add ons.

Here is what I have:
Extensions : HP Smart web printing (disabled) can't delete
Appearance: Default 5.0
Plugs: Adobe Acrobat, Google earth/update, Java Development/platform
MS Office, Shockwave, Silverlight, Windows live Photo Gallery,
Windows presentation foundation.

Mr. Gates has sent me some system updates today, will see what, if any, changes might effect this problem.

Were you able to find out what was causing it or just give in as I am about to do.

I have Chrome on my Xp machine and not on my Win7 machine, but I just figure it (Google) is the "big Brother" effect and wants to control everything, maybe time will change my mind.

Standard for those people who need that stuff. Personally I don't have any of those programs...not even Firefox or Chrome. IE8 is fine and comes with your Windows 7 install. With IE there is a "Reset" option that will fix just about any browser problem.

I don't have the java, HP, MS stuff (except silverlight) so I can't comment on them being the cause but try disabling everything through Firefox orange button -> help -> restart w/ add ons disabled. It will close the browser and it will restart with a prompt with further options such as reset all settings to default, etc. Take your pick and try. If even that fails try a new profile (as last resort).

when i have issues like this, i normally go through and delete all related files.

i.e. within appdata and get rid of all mozilla folders, ( ofucrse will loose all data and bookmarks) or just rename the folders .old and try again see how it goes.
