For security reasons, how do you open a document in MS Word 2002 but not run a macro?

None of the Macro Security settings seem to stop macros under any or all conditions, that some will run no matter what.

I searched a lot & everything comes up on how to Enable macros. The only thing I saw about disabling them had to do with older versions of Word or newer versions of Office where that were settings stating to open a document but not run macro. But nothing like this seems to exist for Word 2002. I do not have MS Office & Word 2002 came with MS Works Suite.

When I started working with Word 2002 I was getting messages that macros were needed. I let the system fix the problem. Maybe I shouldn’t have.

Think I found the solution.

Just about everything I read said to set the security level to medium but that didn't make sense. Finally found something that did. Set the security level to high & make sure there are no trusted sources, including un-checking the box "Trust all installed add-ons and templates".
