Hi,

I've been having issues with Word 2003, of all things. Windows 7 is running smoothly, but whenever I use Word 2003, it crashes after a while of use and reboots the computer. I can't work out what causes it to happen, sometimes I'm just typing, sometimes when I'm zooming out of the page.

I can't get a BSOD to display even when I change off 'Automatically Restart', and changing it to run in compatibility mode hasn't helped.

By specifications are in my profile.

Hope someone can help...

Uninstall Entire Office 2003 and try to reinstall it in XP compatibility mode...

win 7 64 bit w 2 gigs of ram is not alot of ram. It might just be word is eating the rest of the ram. Open task manager and watch the resources while playing in word. You could also check in event viewer (type event viewer in search) to see if there are any errors relating to word

Hope this helps

Ken

I don't think it has gone above ~40mb before it's rebooted, the RAM is never used to full capacity.

No messages in the event manager except that the computer restarted 'unexpectedly'.

Thanks for the ideas though.

I just did a clean installation of Windows 7 and Office 2003, running in compatibility mode for XP, and the problem still remains!

I'm thinking this is much more a hardware problem. But it's strange because no other programs have caused a reboot, everything else seems to run smooth as it did in XP...
