My PC is somewhat modern, would it still be good to run 7?

"somewhat modern"

I will get my crystal ball

Win7 runs fine on 8th and 9th gen desktops, e.g. 360,370,390, 365 mobos.

It also runs fine on 10th and 11th gen mobos such as b560. But there are no win7 graphics drivers for 10th & 11th gen igpu, so a separate graphics card is needed.

You need to add drivers to win 7 install media, however they are available ( except for 10th&11th gen igpu)
Update your Win 7 installation media

Or are you talking AMD ?

I am posting this from an ivybridge machine. Win7 is perfect for it.

Your specs say you are running win7 Ult, why are asking the question?

I also have an Ivy Bridge, and W7 is indeed perfect for it. No problem there. Just be sure you take the necessary steps to keep it safe. The safest thing to do is to keep it offline. Use another , supported system, like Linux, for online use. Next best thing is to use it in a virtual system, within a supported system (like Linux - hint, hint...).

If you don't do either of the above, you need to vey careful where you go and what you click on. Of course you need a good antivirus. some people pay for extended support. I refuse to do that for a home computer, when I can run - get ready - Linux, for free.

According to your computer specs, its ASUS motherboard has a USB 3.0 controller.
The Windows 7 install media doesn't have native support for USB 3.0, so you'll need to integrate USB 3.0 drivers into it.
If you don't, your USB keyboard and mouse will probably stop working after the install process begins.
SIW2 can help you resolve that issue.

You may as well run some "flavour" of Linux and then run W7 as a VM (as Michael Diemer suggested).
However that setup may not work for gaming.

When the AV vendors finally stop supporting W7, I'll run it as a VM on Linux Mint (on my main PC).
