x64 SP-1 Update error 800B0100

Just built a computer and put windows 7 professional x64 on. Every time I shut off, it would try and update, so I eventually just checked and saw that I was getting failures.

800B0100 is the error I get for the service pack upgrade. I tried system ready tool here System Update Readiness Tool fixes Windows Update errors in Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Server 2008 It said something like installing hotfix, but didn't help.

Googling led me here, where it seems that quite a few people had the same problems but the fix is unique.

Here's my logs.

I'm currently manually downloading the sp-1 update, but it's taking a while so I thought I would ask here first. I may end up doing a clean install, if I do what's the best way to get all the updates fast?

The reason that I'm posting this is because people visiting this site aren't able to view attachments and (like I regularly do) people can learn about CheckSUR logs if I keep posting them :)


Windows Update Package Replacement

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.


  1. Please download the attached file, Packs.zip and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
  3. Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
  4. A window will open showing two folders, Manifests and Packages
  5. Open the Manifests folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

  6. Open the Packages folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

  7. Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again
  8. When the SURT finishes installing, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SURT log into your next post please:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log


You will probably be shown the error code 0x8024200D after performing this fix, if so, please download and install the update from this link. It must be downloaded using Internet Explorer.

Thanks Tom, after following those steps I was able to manually update to SP-1.
I also ran that other update.

Now it shows 3 updates and I am getting the same error again.
The three updates are
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based systems(KB2511250)
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based systems(KB2545698)
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based systems(KB2741355)

I've ran the SURT a couple times now but it doesn't fix this. Still the same error Code 800B0100

Could you reboot and run the SURT again please? Strangely, the errors aren't showing in your log.

Ok can do, I just restarted and got the problem. I'm trying the SURT, it's asking me to install Hotfix for windows (KB947821). Will post log when done.

Could you zip up and attach the following file to your post? This is really strange and I'm so confused at the moment. The SURT should be reporting the 800B0100 error in its log but instead it's showing: No errors detected.

Yea here are the logs again. I also attached a picture to show you my error. You know when SP-1 was having the error it use to say something like (TRUST_E_NOSIGNATURE) after it I think.

The log that I was particularly interested in is your CBS log, located here:

C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Could you zip this up and attach it to your next post please?
