Solved XBOX Wireless Controller for PC

Hi Guys, I am planning to get an XBOX 360 Controller as I just bought the Dead Space/2 Pack deal, and want to play easier.

This is the XBOX Controller I want. First of all, how would I connect? Would I need a Bluetooth adapter as I do not have it built in.

And I am concerned about the compatibility. Will it work with all/most games on the Steam store or will some require a mouse.

EDIT: I think I get what you mean? There is a little usb thing you put in the computer and the Controller receives from the dongle usb thing in the computer?

the OP's link is for a microsoft controller.

anyway, it will come with a dongly type thing that plugs into a usb port.

it won't necessarily play with every steam game - it will should work on all games which are branded 'games for windows'.

personally i only use mine for driving games, i don't think you can beat a mouse/keyboard combo for shooters...

As long as it comes with the MS receiver then he is good, but, the description doesn't mention the receiver and I wouldn't want the OP to buy that and then have to buy a receiver for more money.

Well, it sounds like it comes with the receiver from that review.
I wonder if it is black as well. I wouldn't mind replacing my white one with a black one.

I had thought that they stopped making the controller combo, but it looks like they have the black controller with the black receiver now,

So with a Wireless Game Receiver. Do I still need a Windows Compatible one or can I use my XBOX/PS3 Controller?

I would prefer Wireless as I don't like too many wires.

with a microsoft receiver, you'll be able to use a microsoft (xbox) controller.

i don't think your ps3 controller will work, but am not 100% sure.

the current debate is whether the product you linked to does include a receiver or not...

i bought mine from pcworld (*shudder*) maybe 18 months ago for £30 (ordered online and picked up instore and saved £10 - would have been £40 off-the-shelf) and it did include the receiver.

the only downsides to going wireless are you'll need 2 AA batteries for the controller, and it's a bit fiddly to turn off.

The batteries last a long time.
I just pop off the battery to turn it off.
Someone on this forum made an app that allows you to turn off the controller.
I can't remember what thread it is, just read about it the other day.

I have the wireless receiver ,I bought it on its own and I can connect any wireless 360 controller, I use a rechargable battery and have a hub to charge it in. I use normal AA batteries when my battery is charging

Well I have just spent £30 on games, have £40 left. To make the most out of these games, I want a controller. Please recommend me what to get. As there are Wireless/Wired/Adapters, etc. I don't know, whats best for clutter free wiring.

Going to get APB Reloaded too

These are the games I got, I was also wondering if there was a wheel compatible for PC. Would be nice playing DiRT with that.

this wireless controller from amazon.co.uk does include the receiver and costs £27.99 - very clutter-free - i've got my receiver invisibly plugged into back of pc which is under my desk - zero reception problems even from other side of the room.

there are quite a few pc-compatible steering wheels (with pedals too, some with gearsticks), ranging from cheap to ultra-pricey. i've never tried any of them, so can't really comment.

I know I should probably make a new thread for this but if I get a bluetooth adapter/receiver. Will it work for all devices? Or will I need a different reciever for every device.
