Hello every1, i'm aving a Problem with my 4 months old Graphic card. Its, XFX Radeon HD 4870 XXX (the 1GB edition) by ATI. I know it's an older card. It was working very well, i was playing games, didnt realy had the any issues the Temperatures was around 50 C when at iddle / after fresh restart.

But now, the intergrated Cooler makes much more noise, also the Temperatures are getting rly high.

After turning the my PC on, iddle on Desktop, the Temperature is at 75 C and it gets down to 68 C, the coolest was 66 C few days ago.

Here is a screen shot while playing a Music Video from my Disk at a fresh start (was fresh restarted). If i play YT Video or Streams it gets till 89 C and then the Cooler works 70 - 80%. Imagine the Sound.

I enabled AMD Overdrive and reduced GPU nd Memory clock settings to the minimum.

Dont ave any ideas, so pls can someone help me on this? (without saying buy a Artic Cooler)

Those cards do run a little hot but that's in their design. There normal operating temps range from 50* C to 80* C. To help reduce the temps of your card, make sure your case is clean of dust and dirt and has enough air flow. If need be add some case fans to boost air flow, for about $10 each. Also take your GPU out and check the fan for any blockages and debris and then blow it out. Then reinstall card and making sure it's seated all the way and all power connections are made and seated properly. Then fire up PC and check your temps. In your screen shot I see that your fan control is not enabled, enable it and set it to 40%.

Worst case scenario your GPU fan controller and/or fan could be going bad.

Tnx bassfisher6522.

Well, my PC is clean i just had a reformart lately nd the Service was cleaning everything.

Also i have a Thermaltake Tt Case which alone has 4 Fans and active cooling.

The manual cooling is uncheck because of the noise of the Fan, at automatic settings it pops down when i use Firefox. So there is no need to put it under constant pressure nd risk with it to die.

I head a read last nite, someone is using the same card but with an artic cooler and have 15 C less temps.

The problem is its costs money nd aint avaiable here.

Update:

It was DUST.

My PC was "clean" but the Cooler was not. I did a lil bit of work, removed the card from Cooler, cleaned it and now:

Fresh 47 C, Polar Bear friendly temperature.

Solved.

I do a complete dust out at least once a month as part of a regular cleaning routine..

my Noctua cooler's fins gets clogged and the case fans/filters, etc need regular cleaning as well..

we are a large family and the dust flies when we are all dancing in the living-room..:D
