Hello everyone,

I'm running xp mode, I disable the integration features from accessing my physical drives (only allow optical drive) the only concern I have is the network access through NAT.

Is NAT secure enough to prevent virus spreading from my xp mode to main machine?

Thanks

Think of the XP Mode machine the same as any other physical machine on a network. NAT will provide security through obscurity and protect (for the most part, anyway) from active attack attempts. Passive (aka social engineering) based attacks are still possible, of course, because those rely on the user.

Nat basically adds a layer 3 firewall between your internal and external network. This layer 3 only allows connections from the originating subnet... Meaning, no external connetion can be made unless your XP mode machine initiates the connection first.

Thanks for the replies.
Which means nat also protect the main machine.
