XP mode RTMs -Available on 22. oct

It seems that Microsoft is going to release XP mode in the same time as GA of Windows 7:

A recent post on the Windows 7 Team Blog states that Windows XP Mode was released to manufacturing on October 1 and that the final version of the solution is expected to become available for download as soon as Windows 7 hits the market, on October 22, to be more precise. The RTM version of this solution is meant to offer OEMs the possibility to include the XP Mode within the PCs they will bring to the market, the post also notes.

OK. Since it is not included in lesser versions of 7, will it work on Home Premium?

I am not understanding the bundling if it is free.

XP Mode wont be available for home premium as HP doesnt have support for virtualisation. XP Mode will be available for Pro and ultimate as a free download.

I think XP mode is downladable through microsoft.com (don't know if it's going to be d/l trough WU too!)

XP mode is free and it works ONLY on Pro/Business/Ultimate Windows 7 edition's.

Memory is a bit fuzzy of virtualbox on vista, I cant remember whether it was ok or not :/ Perhaps someone can clarify.

A better way to say this is: Microsoft has prevented you from installing XP Mode on Windows 7 Home Premium. They do some sort of check and if you aren't running on Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise or Ultimate, it won't install.

You certainly can, and should (if you care about performance), use another virtualization package like Sun Virtualbox on Home Premium.

According to the MS EULA, it was NOT alright to run a virtualized machine if you weren't running Vista Business, Enterprise or Ultimate. And therein lies some of the reason that I hate these MS EULA's....I mean seriously they are restricting "legally" what I can and cannot do with my operating system. Excuse me, but if I want to download Sun VirtualBox or VMWare on my system and I have a legal copy of another OS that I can install and run...then I am going to do it regardless of that Vista EULA.

Not all contracts are legally binding in their entirety to the extent that some portion of it is unreasonable.

Don't fret...you don't actually need Virtualization support in your processor to use better products like VMware Server 2.0 or Sun VirtualBox.

So, I downloaded VirtualBox, set it up for a XP virtual machine. Now whenever I try to start it, it says that there is no bootable media found. Do I have to have an XP cd to use virtual box?
