RE what email address I use. I have a gmail acct but depend on my own domain name which I get pretty cheap. Gives me a unique email address and as long as I keep paying for it, works.
Outlook.com is another free email service but I don't trust them either as I understand it is a throwback from Hotmail.
Many people who have an ISP can get an email thru that vendor or your phone provider sometimes has an email that you can use. But some people change their phone provider like their underwear so that might not work.
So, the answer is not simple. Free is not always good or really free. Pay up to (almost) guarantee that your email will be there when you need it.
