This win 7 home prem SP1 has been operating erratically for about 1 month. When I look at the problem graph it has 7 shutdowns attributable to the OS and 3 due to an app. Went thru all the HP Support Solution screens and did not help. Looked at paging file space and increased..didn't help. Am at a loss now.

Upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.

  1. Click on the start button
  2. Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
  3. File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
  4. Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
  5. Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.

Was traveling for 2 weeks...sorry for the lapse.

Results of Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows:

QUICK TEST RESULTS:

"Quick test on drive 1 did not complete! Status code = 07 (failed read test element), Failure SMART self test did not complete on drive 1."

Stopped at 1:03 mins/secs of elapsed time.

Interesting anomaly is that there was a green check mark and "passed" in the Smart Status column.

EXTENDED TEST RESULTS:

"Test found bad sectors that may be repairable".

I clicked "repair". Result was: "Unable to repair bad sectors. Please contact WD Tech Support for help."

Extended test duration was 1 hr 40 mins

Thanx for helping me
George B.

I would suggest you to RMA the disc. If the disc is out of warranty, get a new one.
