How to Add or Remove "Compatibility" Tab in Properties Page in Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8
InformationThis will show you how to add or remove the Compatibility tab when users right click or press and hold on a program's shortcut (LNK), .EXE, BAT, CMD, or MSI file and click/tap on Properties in Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.
You must be logged in as an administrator to be able to do the steps in this tutorial.
EXAMPLE: "Compatibility" Tab in Properties Page
OPTION ONETo Add or Remove "Compatibility" Tab Using a REG File Download
1. To Add "Compatibility" Tab to Properties
NOTE: This is the default setting.A) Click/tap on the download button below to download the file below.2. To Remove "Compatibility" Tab from PropertiesAdd_Compatibility_Tab_to_Properties.regB) Go to step 3.A) Click/tap on the download button below to download the file below.3. Save the .reg file to the Desktop.Remove_Compatibility_Tab_from_Properties.reg
4. Double click/tap on the downloaded .reg file to Merge it.
5. Click/tap on Run, Continue (UAC-Vista) or Yes (UAC-Windows 7/8), Yes, and then OK when prompted.
6. When finished, you can delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.
OPTION TWOTo Add or Remove "Compatibility" Tab Using Local Group Policy Editor
1. Open the Local Group Policy Editor.That's it,
2. In the left pane, double click/tap on to expand User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Explorer, and Application Compatibility. (see screenshot below) 3. In the right pane of Application Compatibility, double click/tap on Remove Program Compatibility Property Page to Edit it. (see screenshot above)
4. To Add "Compatibility" Tab to Properties
NOTE: This is the default setting.A) Select (dot) Not Configured or Disabled. (see screenshot below step 6)5. To Remove "Compatibility" Tab from Properties
B) Go to step 6.A) Select (dot) Enabled. (see screenshot below step 6)6. Click/tap on OK. (see screenshot below) 7. When finished, you can close the Local Group Policy Editor if you like.
