Install Files for East Asian Languages for XP Mode

Searching and scanning the first 20 pages of threads has not produced a solution, so if I have missed something, perhaps someone can directed me to it.

I am attempting to set up XP Mode in a Windows 7 professional 64bit machine. I have been unable to install East Asian languages files. When I click the box in the Regional and Language Options dialog box in XP, it is unable to locate the needed file. I am given the option to browse for it, but I have no idea where it might be located. Can someone please point me in the right direction.

If anyone knows for certain that it is not possible to do this, would you please inform me.

Washi, I might be right off the point. However, have you thought about installing the Japanese XP Mode instead of the English version. Just a thought.

Thanks for your suggestion Mitka27. The thought occurred to me, but while I want to be able to read and input Japanese from time to time, most of the software I want to use is in English, and my Japanese is not nearly good enough to cope with a Japanese operating system (error messages, etc.)

Washi, I ran into this same problem. What I had to do was insert my old XP cd and get the files from there. Any XP cd will work including non-genuine ones. Good luck.

Thanks, Hugh, for your reply. I am in the process of setting up a new computer. Somehow, in the process, I corrupted the drivers for my CD ROM drives, making what should have been a simple task, impossible. After doing a factory restore I was able to start fresh, and was able to install the language files just as you described.

Now if you'd only slip over to Japan and help me figure out the rest of the mysteries....

Washi, glad that you could figure it out. Just wondering what you meant by the slipping over to Japan to figure out the rest of the mystery. In case you need a hand, I am in Japan and do speak and read Japanese so if I can be of help dont hesitate.
