"Grub4DOS" on boot

HI,

I'm currently running 7600RTM(Ultimate), but before that I was running XP64, and then 7100RC. Sadly I do not know, what I did. During boot up, its boots directly into "Grub4DOS," and I have no idea what I am suppose to do with this.

In conclusion, what are the steps to solve this problem of mine.

Welcome!

Did you install GRUB at all? Boot to your installation DVD/Repair disc and select Repair my Computer.

Open a command prompt, and mark your Windows 7 partition as active: http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/34853-common-installation-problems.html

Exit diskpart, and run the following commands:

bootrec /fixmbr

bootrec /fixboot

bootrec /rebuildbcd

Restart your computer, and see what happens.

I didn't install GRUB, nor do I know what that is.

for bootrec/fixboot - i got the message
"The volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted."

for bootrec/rebuildbcd - i got this
"Total identified Windows Installations:0
The operation completed sucessfully."

Still the same thing when I rebooted, I'm guessing I'll have to reformat now; if so is there any ways for me to backup what i had?

Did you mark the Windows partition as active first? See my link above. Be sure to mark your main partition as active, and not the 100MB system partition, if it exists.

Then run those commands again.

So i redid it and this was the suspicious thing I got.
"Total identified Windows Installations:0
The operation completed sucessfully."

oh hey, it boots up!

Hello Jonathan..i did the steps that u mentioned before,but when i reboot my pc (after bootrec commands) it keeps rebooting!!..i mean it boots up the main screen and the reboot and reboot!!any suggestions??

Just to make sure, did you mark your Windows partition as active?

Then run a startup repair again.

yes i marked as active my windows partition and the bootrec orders were made successful!!..the problem was at the boot sequence..btw, thanks a lot 4 ur tips!!

Hi Jonathan..i found out what the problem was about..it seems that when i installed 7loader on my pc it did something to my boot, so that grub thing appeared!..im saying all this now, because that f%^$g thing with 1million boots appeared again!! the only solution that i found was to reinstall windows!
